The American Heart Association the largest voluntary health organization in the United States dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, the nation's number one killer. AHA's primary mission is the funding of meritorious cardiovascular research. They offer risk reduction educational programs for schools, work sites, and healthcare sites focusing on nutrition, blood pressure, tobacco control, physical activity, and recognition of warning signs of heart attack and stroke. Training programs are provided for medical professionals and the general public in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and blood pressure measurement. Continuing education and training for medical professionals is offered. Education/support groups for heart and stroke patients, their families and caregivers are offered.
