Description
The mission of the Tiverton Senior Center is to reach out to all citizens in the community who are 50 or older to offer socialization, education, recreation, congregate meals, and various health and informational services that will improve the quality of life for all participants. They provide a variety of programming including classes which cost $3 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Membership costs $5 annually: Meals - they provide daily lunches as part of the East Bay Community Action Program Bridge to Self Reliance. Call 401-625-6790 for more details and to pre-register for meals. Fitness & Wellness Classes - Functional fitness, chair yoga, balance and mobility, Sumba, Line Dancing and free blood pressure clinics and wellness checks. SHIP counselors, Care Giver Support Groups and EBCAP RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) & Foster Grandparents are also available. Arts & Crafts - quilting, knitting and painting. Games - including MahJongg, cribbage, Bingo, Scrabble, and Pitch League/Hi, Low Jack. Educational Programming - tech time computer tutorials, smart driver class, Office of Healthy Aging presentation, and more. Music - chorus, live musical presentations and karaoke, and more. Transportation is available to Tiverton seniors and folks with disabilities to either the Center or shopping on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Call 401-625-6790 to reserve your spot.
