Description
To prevent unnecessary duplication of medical services, facilities, and equipment; and promote access, safe and adequate treatment, and quality improvement in healthcare facilities. What we do Approve, or deny, initial licenses for healthcare facilities including: freestanding emergency care facilities, outpatient kidney treatment centers, organized ambulatory care facilities, and outpatient birth centers. Certify Need for expensive medical services and equipment to avoid unnecessary duplication. Approve or deny changes in ownership, control or leases of healthcare facilities including: hospitals, nursing homes, organized ambulatory care facilities, outpatient kidney dialysis facilities, outpatient hospice care facilities, freestanding emergency care facilities, home health care providers.
