The weR1 Rhode Island Fund provides direct cash assistance to Rhode Islanders who are unable to benefit from most public programs due to their immigration status. Rhode Islanders with urgent need due to sickness, job loss or reduction in work hours due to COVID-19 and who are excluded from federal programs.
The program and fund distribution will be managed by Dorcas International Institute of RI (DIIRI). $400 no-fee auto-loaded no-fee debit cards will be provided to those in need.

Dorcas International provides client-centered services, advocacy and opportunities in family literacy and adult education, employment services, refugee resettlement, translation, interpretation, U.S. citizenship and immigration services.
It operates out of two campuses providing services to the community including Immigration and Citizenship services, Refugee Resettlement, the Clothing Collaborative, and Interpreting and Translating services.
