Eligibility

Grants are awarded to tax-exempt organizations, substantially all in Rhode Island, for the purchase of equipment and for construction, renovation or purchase of real estate. Out of state applicants must demonstrate a strong nexus to Rhode Island and its people to be considered. Grants are also awarded on a very limited basis for reduction of indebtedness exclusively related to building acquisition or building improvement.

Application process

Applications must be submitted in writing and cannot be emailed. Applicants should submit a brief, preferably one page letter, addressing the following: The capital funding need(s) of the organization; The costs associated with the item(s) requested; The amount requested; The status of any fundraising efforts, if applicable; Other sources of potential funding, if applicable

Since 1932, The Champlin Foundation has awarded more than $550 million to fund capital projects for Rhode Island non-profit organizations. These investments have fostered better medical care, improved education, expanded access to social services, conservation of open spaces, preservation of historic buildings, enrichment of the arts, advancement of animal welfare and more. Quietly and steadfastly, The Champlin Foundation helps those who do good do more – to the benefit of all. Services: Provides grants for capital needs.
