Description

The Center is a private, non-profit community focal point for residents of Newport County and surrounding communities where older persons can come together for services and/or activities which enhance their dignity, reflect their experience and skills, support their independence, encourage their involvement in and with the Center and the community, and respond to their diverse needs and interests. Thrift Shop - The Thrift Shop is open Monday - Friday 10:00-1:00 p.m. Donations by appointment only. Services Available to Members - In addition to the Thrift Shop, Pool Room, Library and Craft/Lab Room are open. You can call the office or stop by to get the monthly list of activities which include: adult coloring class, Alzheimer's Support Group, blood pressure screening, flu clinics, board games and cards, Country Jam Session, fitness classes (balance and strength, line dancing, video exercising, walking club and Zumba gold), information & referrals, singing groups, notary, Senior Health Insurance Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, trips, Tax Assistance (AARP) and RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program). Membership You do not have to be a Portsmouth resident to join, but you must be 55 years or older. Annual membership dues are just $15. Use the New Member Form to join us or renew your membership with the Membership Renewal Form now! Memberships run from July 1 to June 30 each year.
