Private non-profit community development corporation. Develops new and rehabilitated properties to sell and rent to low and moderate income families in the South Providence area. In addition, SWAP offers a seven week Home Buyer Education Program which teaches potential home owners of all income levels what it takes to buy a home. SWAP also runs Home Owners Classes designed to teach home owners what repairs need to be made to their homes, the best time and way to make them and how to make them on a tight budget.

Rhode Island Housing is one of 26 RI Public Housing Authorities that funds and administers over 20 programs in smaller towns throughout Rhode Island to help low and moderate income Rhode Islanders buy, rent or find shelter in safe, decent and affordable housing.
RI Housing has issued over 47,000 mortgages to first time home buyers among consumer programs. RI Housing also oversees the management of 13,000 of subsidized rental housing for low income individuals.
