Application process
Personnel new to commands in the Narragansett Bay region should present themselves to NHCNE, Newport, within the first few days of arrival. Active duty members must enroll in TRICARE Prime. Enrollment kits are available at the TRICARE Service Center, located in the Richard D. Dewert Medical Clinic. Family members of active duty personnel may be enrolled in TRICARE Prime without an enrollment fee. Once enrollment is complete, personnel are assigned a Primary Care physician, who manages their medical care.

Naval Health Clinic New England (NHCNE) is the health care system for the Navy in the Northeast Region, providing medical care to over 70,000 beneficiaries. Primary and specialty care services are provided at all facilities with hospital based care provided through the partnership of Newport Hospital. Services for active duty and enlisted.
