Providing organization

Watch Hill Memorial Library Improvement Society

The original mission of the WHMLIS was to develop, improve and beautify the village, to secure public health and cultivate public spirit as well as to quicken the social and intellectual life of the people. Over the years, the charge has expanded to maintaining the library in the Memorial Building, sustaining the planted islands in the village, showcasing local artists in art and photography shows sponsoring children's programs, assisting with local attractions, including the Lighthouse, Merry-Go-Round, and the Chief Ninigret and The Dreamer statues. These projects and others are accomplished through membership dues and fundraisers such as the Boutique and the Garden Tour.
