Description

A multi-purpose senior center serving all persons 60 and older, providing social, educational and recreational programs for 60+ seniors. Fitness & Wellness programming includes: Walking Aerobics, Ageless Pilates, Yoga, Chair Exercise, health and wellness clinics, balance exercise class, and tai chi. Activities includes: Mah Jongg classes, billiards room, book club, and more. Educational offerings include presentations, computer labs, and book clubs. Arts and Crafts offerings include: knitting, crocheting, poetry table, Senior nutrition program, the Broad Rock Bistro, provides a hot lunch or sandwich at the Center Monday through Friday at noon. You must order your meal by Thursday of the week before. This program is for those 60 years or older or under 60 with a documented disability. A $3 anonymous donation is suggested. No one eligible to receive meals will be turned away due to the inability to donate. Transportation is available only to South Kingstown residents who are 60 years of age or older. Senior Transportation is available Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Call 401-789-0268 at least 24 hours in advance to sign up for or schedule Senior Services Transportation. There is no charge for transportation to and from the Center for lunch and/or activities. The bus will pick up riders to the Center between 8 AM to 9:30 AM. It leaves the Center promptly at 1 PM to bring riders home. There is a $1 fee per trip to run errands such as the pharmacy, grocery store and bank. Individuals requesting transportation for errands will be assigned a specific day each week and will be run from 10AM to 1 PM on your scheduled day. There is no transportation for medical appointments, hospital visits or nursing home visits. Volunteer opportunities where one can contribute their experience and skills to their community are available.
