Reach Out and Read Rhode Island national nonprofit organization since 1989 now reaching nearly 4.5 million low-income families each year. Reach Out and Read builds on the unique relationship between doctors and patients to spread the message that reading aloud is the most important thing parents can do to help their children love books and start school ready to learn. With more than 5,500 participating programs across the nation, 66 of those here in Rhode Island, Reach Out and Read teaches millions of families the importance of reading aloud.
