Back to Work RI is a public-private partnership designed to train, support, and hire thousands of Rhode Islanders who have been displaced by COVID-19.
This a direct response to the pandemic that’s not focused on getting back to “normal,” but instead creating a more equal and resilient economy that works for all Rhode Islanders.
Back to Work RI, partners directly with employers to ensure Rhode Islanders get the skills they need to secure well-paying jobs in growing industries. Provides support services like childcare and transportation assistance, so that every Rhode Islander is able to take advantage of these opportunities. Uses proven best practices, and makes serious innovations, like deploying Artificial Intelligence to connect Rhode Island jobseekers with pathways to careers.
Works with the Markle Foundation's Skillful Initiative to ensure that career coaches are highly trained and have all the tools they need to help jobseekers navigate this new labor market. Click here to learn more about the Rhode Island Governor's Coaching Corps.
Rhode Island has partnered with tech-for-social-impact nonprofit Research Improving People’s Lives (RIPL) to develop the CareerCompass™ RI Bot, a first-of-its-kind tool bot to inspire Rhode Island workers toward new and successful career paths. Powered by Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Rhode Island’s own administrative data, the CareerCompass™ RI Bot will deliver personalized, data-driven new career recommendations straight to Rhode Islanders to launch them onto successful and rewarding new careers. The Bot then match individuals with highly-relevant job openings in in-demand careers or recommend proven-effective reskilling opportunities.
Virtual Career Center
Rhode Island is partnering with Google to launch a Virtual Career Center, giving Rhode Islanders remote access to an array of resources to support their job search. With Google Workspace tools including Google Meet, job seekers will be able to schedule video meetings with career coaches, job recruiters and potential employers, explore career opportunities, and more.
