You may wonder why behavioral treatment to quit smoking is important when there are smoking cessation medications (e.g., Zyban, Chantix) and nicotine replacement products (nicotine patch, lozenges, inhalers) available. Behavioral strategies may be helpful because smoking is integrated into many aspects of a smoker’s life. Cigarette smoking is used to relieve stress or take a break from work. Smoking is often coupled with drinking coffee or alcohol. Perhaps the most important reason is that many smokers have tried to quit several times and may want to do everything possible to make the next quit attempt successful. It helps to understand how thoughts and behaviors affect your smoking and how to modify them for successful smoking cessation. You and the psychologist will set specific treatment goals together. However, because it is staffed by volunteers, anyone needing assistance is asked to call the Social Services department to schedule a time to pick up food. Appointments are made for Wednesday mornings beginning at 9 am or Wednesday afternoons. Emergency situations will open the food bank as needed. Court Advocacy Court can be a confusing and frustrating experience for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center has an office on the third floor of the Kent County Court House to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with filing for Temporary Restraining Orders in the District or Family Court. The Court where you file will vary based on where you reside and your relationship to the person you are filing against. If you are coming in to file for a Protective Order you should make every effort to arrive by 2:30 PM so that you will have adequate time to fill out all of the paper work before Judges are off the bench. To make sure you should be filing in Kent County, please call the Court Office at (401) 822-6680. The Court Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am-1:00 pm, the office is closed for lunch from 1:00-2:00 pm, and then reopens from 2:00-4:00 pm. Portsmouth Animal Control is responsible for enforcing all state laws and town ordinances involving domesticated animals in the Town of Portsmouth. It is also responsible for the pick up of stray animals and trying to locate their owners. When a domestic animal doesn't have a town license or other identification the animal is brought to the Potter Shelter in Middletown until the owner claims it. The animal will only be released after the owner licenses the animal.

Richmond Animal Control Division handles approximately 75 calls-for-service per month, which often vary from noise complaints to animal "at large" violations, to animal bite complaints, and several other enforcement related duties. Complaints and calls concerning domesticated animals are received at Richmond Police Department, which serves as dispatch for Animal Control. Non-emergency calls received after-hours are referred to the next Animal Control Officer to return to duty. The resource center awards scholarships to high school seniors, a week long camp, research, lecture series, hospital presentations and special events for epilepsy. Offers support and outreach to families affected by epilepsy throughout Rhode Island. Provides Information, advocacy, and education in a variety of ways, including:

• Parent Coordinator: an informed understanding advocate who is available to offer support, answer questions, and help families connect with other families living with epilepsy.

• Family Support Group: a monthly, Discovering M.E. (My Epilepsy), designed to give children who have seizures, along with their parents and sibling, a supportive and fun setting to for helping each other understand the many life changes associated with epilepsy.

• Educational Coordinator: promotes epilepsy awareness and education, including school programs and specialized workshops for school nurses and teachers which focus on identifying seizure activity, understanding how seizures affect learning, and teaching safety protocol to follow when a child has a seizure at school.
