TSARI tries to define the needs of Rhode Islanders with Tourette Syndrome and their families to design services for them. It is a neurological disorder characterized by tics-involuntary, rapid, sudden movements and/or vocal outbursts that occur repeatedly. Eleven free support sessions for victims of violent crimes. Also provides faith-sensitive professional (not a psychiatrist) counseling for individuals ages10+, and families in the areas of abuse issues; adult children of alcoholics, anxiety, behavioral changes, bereavement, depression, identity crises, marital or family problems, rape, religious or meaning-of-life crises, sexual identity concerns, stress, vocational crises. Purpose is to assist persons to live a deep, meaningful and fulfilling life. Also, clergy coaching, church consulting, and educational programs for groups (parenting, stress reduction, dream work).

Programs that provide protection and care for unwanted pets or stray animals, and hold them for a specified period of time to provide an opportunity for owners to claim them prior to offering them for adoption. Included are shelters that euthanize the animals if not adopted within a specified amount of time, as well as "no kill" shelters that will keep the animals until they are adopted.

Provides direct financial assistance for active or retired Naval and Marine Corps personnel and their dependents. Provides access for Army, Air Force and Coast Guard personnel with reimbursement from respective societies. For youth who have been adjudicated as delinquent and those awaiting trial for serious offenses, residential programming is conducted at the RI Training School which provides a secure, structured program or comprehensive services including clinical and educational services. All youth detained receive educational services in accordance with their academic level and/or specific individual education plan.

The family-centered approach empowers families and individuals to foster independence, support family care giving and decision making, respect family choices and values, and build on individual strengths. Respite Program: a consumer-driven program designed to enhance the quality of life for children with special needs and their families. The provision of Respite enables families to receive support in the delivery of care for their children. Children’s Home-Based Therapeutic Services (HBTS): clinically directed, specialized health services that are designed to meet the individual needs of children diagnosed with moderate to severe physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions. Addresses behavioral concerns and the development of functional, social and communication skills. The HBTS Team is comprised of the parent(s), a clinical supervisor, a home based therapist, a family service coordinator, and when indicated specialty (treatment consultants, speech therapy, physical therapy, and/or occupational therapy). Together, the HBTS Team develops an individualized treatment plan with measurable goals and objectives. Additionally, clinical support and training is provided on a continuous basis to the home based therapist and family.

Hospital charity care requirements cover those essential services necessary to diagnose, correct, or cure a medical condition that endangers life, causes pain and suffering, results in illness or infirmity, or causes a physical deformity or malfunction. Both inpatient and outpatient services are included. To receive full charity care, patients annual family income must be up to and including 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For partial charity care, patients annual family income must be between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive assistance based on a sliding scale. In addition to income, hospitals have the option to consider other assets. Also must be denied from Medicaid first depending on income.
