English for Speakers of Other Languages(ESOL)/English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction is provided on year-round basis. Classes are offered in the daytime, evenings, or Saturdays. Classes are offered at both our campuses. Students are placed into one of three levels English coursework depending on their English proficiency. Focus is on English Communicative skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - in order to increase students' interpersonal communications skills, decision-making skills, and problem-solving skills.

Tall Ships America is a nonprofit organization focused on youth education, leadership development and the preservation of the maritime heritage of North America. In addition to organizing the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE Series, Tall Ships America manages scholarship programs to make sail training experiences more affordable for young people, grant programs to assist crew of member vessels with the costs of professional development courses and licensing requirements and publishes SAIL TALL SHIPS! A Directory of Sail Training and Adventure at Sea. The Tall Ships Challenge Series of international sailing races, cruises, and maritime festivals is organized by Tall Ships America in cooperation with Great Lakes, Atlantic and Pacific Coast port cities in the United States and Canada. Tall ships are crewed by young people and adults engaged in sail training programs under the supervision of captains and professional crew members. Maritime festivals in each host port give visitors a chance to board the vessels, meet the crew and trainees, and experience the rich maritime heritage that these ships represent.

Turning The Corner operates a network of group homes including a 30-day shelter and assessment program, a program for adolescents with development disabilities, two programs for adolescent males with abuse reactive issues, and a mental health wellness and recovery program. Treatment population includes a diverse cross-section of youth (including LBGTQ youth) with histories of abuse, neglect and trauma – some with developmental disabilities, complex psychiatric diagnoses, sexual offense charges, substance abuse issues, gang affiliation, and issues of domestic violence. All have parents or caregivers who are unable to provide safety and stability for the youth at the present time. TTC is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). It’s also a member agency of the Rhode Island Council of Resource Providers (RICORP), for children, youth and families.
