Incorporated in 1975, They support individuals in their recovery from mental illness and co-occurring disorders (i.e., substance use, developmental disability, related chronic health conditions). FHR is guided by its vision of being a national leader for behavioral healthcare, program innovation, and workforce development. It continually seeks new ways to actualize this vision. FHR continues to develop increasingly progressive models of care, with a focus on recovery, for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. Their organization is a front-runner in behavioral health care, working with communities to accept and support residential programs, substance abuse programs, and fully-integrative programs, such as Assertive Community Treatment. A comprehensive, State licensed adult day care program to provide medical, social and rehabilitative services to chronically impaired elders and disabled adults. Services include: nursing supervision, personal care, counseling, caregivers support/respite, exercises, activities, specialized therapies and nutrition. The Adult Day Services Program provides an array of supportive services designed to upgrade and increase the activities of daily living for older persons dependent upon continual family support and supervision. The major goal of the program is to reduce the potential for institutionalization of dependent elderly individuals otherwise at risk, and to increase their quality of life through the enhancement of their activities of daily living. The program provides supervised supportive care for frail elderly persons to meet the needs of the functionally impaired individual. The program also provides respite and emotional support to family caregivers. Income Source: Towns of South Kingstown, Narragansett, R I Department of Elderly Affairs, R.I. Department of Human Services, client fees and private contributions.

Superior Court is comprised of twenty-two (22) judges and five (5) magistrates. It is the forum for jury and non-jury trials of both civil and criminal matters.

Provides comprehensive rehabilitation services to persons, 18 - 100, who are blind or severely visually impaired, through a center-based program, regional satellites, or community services. Included are daily living skills training, orientation and mobility, counseling, diabetic program, summer camp, low vision services, workshop training and employment, a closed circuit radio information service, volunteer services, speakers bureau, tapes, Braille material, aids and appliances. The Department of Public Safety oversees all the State of Rhode Island’s public safety agencies to ensure efficient delivery of the services those agencies provide. These public safety agencies include the Rhode Island State Police, E 9-1-1 Uniform Emergency Telephone System, Rhode Island Capitol Police, Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy, Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs, and Public Safety Grants Administration Office (formerly the Rhode Island Justice Commission). The Department of Public Safety also consists of a Central Management Office and legal personnel.

Purpose: To understand when and where influenza activity is occurring, to monitor influenza-related illness, outbreaks, hospitalizations, and deaths, and to determine circulating and emerging influenza virus strains. Key Information: Geographic spread and activity level of influenza in the state, laboratory test results, and influenza-related hospitalizations and deaths. Influenza-like-illness (ILI) is defined as patients with a fever over 100°F with cough and/or sore throat (unless there is a known cause other than the flu). Collection Period: Data is collected and analyzed weekly throughout the flu season from October to May. How data are collected The Department of Health has a number of methods for gathering data. This includes gathering reports on the number of patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) from a sample of sentinel physicians and collecting data from hospitals throughout the state. The services of the State Health Laboratory are used to determine the circulating strains of influenza. Additionally, a staff of epidemiologists work with CDC guidance to determine flu activity levels.

The mission of the Center for Southeast Asians (CSEA) is to promote the prosperity, heritage and leadership of Southeast Asians in Rhode Island They assist new Americans in the areas of social and economic independence and creating greater access to education and healthcare services. They can provide: translator services; free tax preparation; interpreting services, job training, English/ESL classes, health insurance navigation; tobacco and substance abuse information; and more. SEDC's social service programs include: Affordable Care Act (ACA), Meal Café, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program); Southeast Asian Elder Advancement Program; assistance with transitional housing management; and case management. Social Services in Providence include: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance; Victim's Assistance Program; Affordable Care Act; and Meals on Wheels and SNAP referrals. Their International Language Bank provides fee-for-service, 24/7 translation and interpretation in over 40 languages.

Clinical support groups are consistently a beneficial intervention for the clients and families. Offers clinical support groups for survivors of sexual abuse (child, teen and adults) and their parents and caregivers. Offers groups focusing on healthy self-esteem, socialization and healing from trauma. Justice Resource Institute’s My Life My Choice (MLMC) Support Group. This 10 session group is designed to empower youth to protect themselves from the commercial sex industry and its perpetrators; explore what makes a healthy relationship; improve self-esteem; and provide positive interaction with peers, medical professionals, law enforcement officers, and survivors. This group beneficial for all teenage girls, as all teenage girls are at risk for exploitation. Clients do not need to have a sexual abuse history to benefit from this group. Non-profit agency offering comprehensive treatment programs for boys and girls traumatized by abuse or experiencing the challenges of psychiatric disorders. Includes therapy, prevention, education, seminars, workshops etc. Children are treated and cared for in the residential, educational and out-patient programs located in North Providence, Rhode Island.

OSCIL works together with state and local government and public entities to eliminate architectural, communication, and attitudinal barriers. OSCIL has provided technical assistance to T.F. Greene Airport, area hospitals, Roger Williams Park, the Board of Canvassers, and many other private businesses and organizations to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and Rhode Island Law 42-87-2. Individuals who experience barriers in the community, i.e. inaccessible restaurants, public events, schools, etc. are encouraged to call OSCIL for information and assistance. Part of OSCIL’s mission is to bring information to the community to help address barriers to independent living. This includes presentations on: -Assistive technology demonstrations -Barriers to effective communication -How Center services can help your independent living goals -Understanding nursing home transition -Utilizing telecommunication devices for the Deaf -How home modifications can increase access in a home -Young adult independent living skills training -Effective public testimony
