The Ocean State Center for Independent Living works to improve the life experience for people with disability by promoting self-direction and integration into the community, and provides a wide range of independent living services to help individuals meet these goals.

PASA's mission is to expand and improve after-school opportunities for the youth of Providence by organizing a system to ensure all youth access to high-quality after-school programs and learning opportunities. Students who are Providence residents and earn digital badges will be extended an offer of a summer job for the summer of 2018 through Workforce Solutions – an office of the City of Providence. A variety of summer youth employment opportunities are made available each year through Workforce Solutions to over 500 Providence youth. With this badge youth will qualify to be first in line for one of several career–oriented positions offered by a host of exciting community organizations and businesses. Students who earn badges and are not Providence residents will receive a recommendation letter from the City of Providence for summer employment through their local workforce board.

Resources for Human Development-RI helps adults with developmental disabilities reach their goals. With a strong focus on the arts, RHD works with its Participants to develop new skills, become more integrated in the local community and explore a variety of employment opportunities. Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship supports the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL by facilitating access to education for persons having disability. PLEASE NOTE, ONLY RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP. The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 by Catherine Murray, a long-time educator and also a board member and valued volunteer at the Ocean State Center for Independent Living. It was her wish to support the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL through a scholarship that gives people with disability access to higher education. Grants of $1000+ are awarded to help students with a disability to continue their education past high school. Scholarship funds can be used for educational expenses such as tuition or the purchase of textbooks. They may also be used to obtain assistive/adaptive equipment or devices that aid the student in meeting their educational goals. To qualify for this scholarship applicants must: -have a significant disability -be a Rhode Island resident (Your home address MUST be in RI) -plan to attend a college, technical school, or a trade/vocational program in the upcoming academic year Preference is based on career goals, merit, and economic need.

Blackstone Valley Community health Care (BVCHC) has established a program that reduces fees charged to patients based on their income and family size. The categories used are based on percentages of “Poverty Level” as annually determined by the federal government. Qualifying patients will pay a nominal fee if they qualify for 100% of poverty. Patients between 101% and 200% will pay an amount depending on their family size and percentage of poverty. Every program has requirements and BVCHC’s Sliding Fee Program is no different.

Clínica Esperanza provides linguistically-appropriate, culturally-attuned medical care to uninsured adults living in Rhode Island. Since 2010, they have served more than 10,000 patients, 80% of whom are Spanish-speaking, through the clinic and health education programs.
