Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship supports the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL by facilitating access to education for persons having disability. PLEASE NOTE, ONLY RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP. The Catherine T. Murray Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 by Catherine Murray, a long-time educator and also a board member and valued volunteer at the Ocean State Center for Independent Living. It was her wish to support the philosophy and spirit of OSCIL through a scholarship that gives people with disability access to higher education. Grants of $1000+ are awarded to help students with a disability to continue their education past high school. Scholarship funds can be used for educational expenses such as tuition or the purchase of textbooks. They may also be used to obtain assistive/adaptive equipment or devices that aid the student in meeting their educational goals. To qualify for this scholarship applicants must: -have a significant disability -be a Rhode Island resident (Your home address MUST be in RI) -plan to attend a college, technical school, or a trade/vocational program in the upcoming academic year Preference is based on career goals, merit, and economic need.

The RI Department of Labor and Training provides workforce development, workforce security and workforce protection to the state's workers, employers and citizens, offering employment services, educational services and economic opportunity to both individuals and employers. DLT protects the workforce by enforcing labor laws, prevailing wage rates and workplace health and safety standards. The department also provides temporary income support to unemployed and temporarily disabled workers.

Temple North Apartments is a three-story, 24 unit, subsidized housing facility for families located in a quiet residential neighborhood with 1 and 2 bedroom units available.

Tides is a non-traditional agency, unlike any other. Their “No-walls” philosophy puts them in the heart of neighborhoods where clients live—the most distressed and poverty-stricken areas of Rhode Island. Community-based programs service these youth, aged 6-21, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Kingstown Crossings I offers HUD subsidized 3 and 4 bedroom apartments. In addition to housing, this program offers a variety of services, including case management and referrals to support families and their children.

A licensed skilled nursing facility (SNF) that provides Short Term Rehab (physical, occupational & speech therapy) and long-term care services for up to 50 residents at Forest Farm Assisted Living. Forest Farm is staffed on a 24-hour basis with qualified nurses and certified nursing assistants. The services of the medical director, assistant administrator, a registered dietician, a pharmacist's consultant, and a social worker are also available. Two components: Short term rehabilitation after hospital, or long term care both at Forest Farm Assisted Living. Shawomet Terrace is subsidized housing 62+, handicapped or disabled. This 2-story residence includes 26 one & two bedroom apartments for residents, community rooms and an administrative office area for the Housing Authority.

The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:

• CAP (Community Activities Project) provides financial support enabling children with disabilities to participate in community and recreational activities.

Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. UCPRI will assist families in identifying their needs (home health care, learning, recreation) and work with them to secure funding. Adult Education: UCP Rhode Island�s Adult Education Community Classrooms meet throughout RI. Instruction is individualized, based on the personal learning goals of each student. Most classes meet for 3 hours a week for 12 weeks. Camp Ruggles is Rhode Island’s therapeutic summer day camp program for children ages 6-12, who are clinically diagnosed with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Our program is designed specifically for children with significant difficulties in these areas who cannot succeed in a regular camp environment.

Saint Elizabeth Manor is a skilled nursing and rehab center in Bristol and has a long history of providing quality care in the East Bay. With 133 beds, Saint Elizabeth Manor provides short term rehab, long-term care, specialized memory care, and hospice care.

The East Bay Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Program helps Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries prevent, detect, and report health care fraud. SMP not only protects seniors, it also helps to preserve the integrity of the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Senior Medicare Patrol staff and volunteers work with beneficiaries to: -Review their Medicare Summary Notices for accuracy -Protect their identity -Identify and report errors on their health care bills -Identify deceptive health care practices, such as illegal marketing, providing unnecessary or inappropriate services, and charging for services that were not provided -SMP also conducts informational sessions for seniors about avoiding Medicare and Medicaid scams.
