Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, offers assistance with managing costs associated with home energy bills. Tri-County is able to help with paying fuel and utility bills during the winter months for eligible clients, and we can arrange for the installation of home insulation to reduce home-heating costs (gas, electric, propane, oil, kerosene or wood) through our weatherization program.

Programs that provide a graded system of learning in a formal school setting from kindergarten or grade one through grades six, seven, eight or nine (depending on the district configuration) for children ranging in age from five or six to about 13 or 14.

Caregiver Homes of Rhode Island’s community-based program helps families provide high-quality, 24-hour care for elders at home. They help make it possible for a family member or friend to become the primary in-home caregiver by providing them with the support and financial assistance they need. The Structured Family Caregiving model is known as RIte @ Home.

The Victim Services Unit provides an array of services to felony crime victims and their families and informs victims of their rights as guaranteed under the Rhode Island Constitution and the Victim's Bill of Rights. The office of the Attorney General also. lead the way in environmental enforcement, promote open and transparent government, protect Rhode Island Consumers, stand up for Rhode Island Workers, engage with Rhode Island Communities, Support Victims of Crime, Community Violence Intervention and Prevention. Advocates are assigned to victims and their families to provide guidance and support through the criminal justice process - informing them of their rights, notifying them of the status of the offender’s case, providing personal assistance at court appearances and helping them better understand and participate in the legal process. In addition, the Unit provides referrals to other victim-service provider agencies and support groups that can further assist victims with financial, legal, medical and emotional problems resulting from the crime. Unit advocates also assist prosecutors with all victim-related matters.

Child Outreach is a free service offered to all children 3 to 5 years old. Child Outreach provides information about your child’s development and resources that are available within your community. It can also help identify children who may need further assessment, intervention and/ or services at an early age to promote positive outcomes in kindergarten and beyond.

Thrive Behavioral Health's mission is to improve the quality of life for men, women, children and families facing behavioral health challenges. They do this through a wide range of mental health, substance abuse and trauma-informed programs, and with the commitment of experienced and dedicated professionals. Staff collaborates fully to ensure a holistic approach to care that treats the person, not the illness. Provides residential services to adults with psychiatric disabilities, 18 - 75. Assertive case management services provided by the mobile treatment team to the supported living facilities, scattered site apartments in the East Bay area, and adults wit psychiatric disabilities and dually disordered adults living independently in the community in various living accommodations. The Kent Center and Riverwood Mental Health Services merged in 2017 to form Thrive Behavioral Health. Roland Boucher Apartments is subsidized housing with supportive services for disabled individuals.

Provides income for individuals and their families as partial replacement of earnings lost because of old age retirement, disability or death. Benefits and benefit amounts are dependent on contributions and past earnings of covered workers and their employers. Administers SSI program for persons 65 and over; 65 and under if blind or disabled.

Maggie's Pet Pantry provides assistance to people who need help in feeding their pets. The Pantry includes dog food, cat food, toys, snacks, treats, leashes and collars, etc.

Advocates for measures to give children the best start in life:

• Promotes girls' education - ensuring that they complete primary education as a minimum.
• Works to provide immunizations against common childhood diseases
• Works to prevent HIV/AIDS among young people
• Helps children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity.
• Focuses on psycho-social support for traumatized children, relief for child soldiers, and special attention for women and girls in crisis situations

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income households with fuel bills during the winter. Eligible households receive a grant to help pay their heating bills. Grants are paid directly to the utility or fuel company. The program generally runs from mid-October thru April.

THE SCITUATE ANIMAL SHELTER is a municipal facility under the supervision of Scituate Animal Control, a division of the Scituate, Rhode Island Police Department. They take in animals from Scituate and Foster and provide care until we can find good homes for them. They also socialize all cats and dogs who need such work in order to be ready for life in a home and with a family. The shelter staff and the volunteers will go to great lengths to find homes for all animals that we have at the shelter.

The local agency that is responsible for enforcing all laws and ordinances; preventing crime; investigating criminal activity; apprehending, arresting and detaining suspects; presenting evidence; regulating traffic; investigating traffic accidents and engaging in other activities that protect lives and property and preserve peace in the community.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

The Providence Animal Rescue League (PARL) is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. PARL serves communities throughout Rhode Island and beyond. Our mission is to provide for the rescue and relief of suffering or homeless animals and perform charitable or benevolent acts for the welfare of animals.

Our Family Support Center provides basic needs assistance to low income households and connects families to financial literacy and other programs to strengthen their financial condition. The Family Support Center serves low and moderate income Woonsocket residents depending on eligibility requirements for fund-specific programs.
