Respite provides temporary care for children with special needs. This allows families time away from caregiving responsibilities. Families have the ability to identify the caregiver and when services are needed. Respite can range from a few hours to overnight care.

peech-language therapy involves corrective treatment of physical and/or cognitive disorders that cause difficulty with communication and/or swallowing. We help patients develop language and speech skills to regain control and increase their communication skills. We also teach patients and family members safe and appropriate swallowing techniques for eating and drinking.

Grief and bereavement support groups are held at various times and locations throughout the year to support individuals and families who have lost a loved one. Coming together with others to share similar feelings and thoughts is beneficial to the grieving process. The support groups are a 6-session series led by the hospice chaplain, who teaches healing and coping strategies. Other programs offered for families and friends who have lost a loved one include: Circle of Love and Light held in the first week of December. Annual Interfaith Service, held each spring.

Friends Way provides free peer based support groups, under the direct supervision of mental health professionals, for children and teens who are mourning the death of a loved one, usually a parent or sibling. We also provide crisis intervention, education and training on the subject of children's grief and loss to schools, mental health professionals, clergy and the community at large.
