Behavioral Health Link is a comprehensive program to service individuals who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis (mental health and/or substance abuse use) by establishing a community based, 24/7 hotline and triage center. BH has 5 treatment bays and can assist 8-10 individuals at one time. A federally licensed non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Rhode Island community with blood and blood components. The Center has an active tissue typing laboratory which supports bone marrow transplantation and parentage testing. The Rhode Island Blood Center is a donor center for the National Marrow Donor Program and has an active Pheresis Program.

Located on the first floor of the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center, the Arlington Branch, formerly named both the Arlington Library and the Arlington Reading Room, was initially founded in the neighborhood district hall with a collection of 500 volumes. Currently, the branch is a popular stop for both pedestrians in the Arlington neighborhood and those visiting the Senior Enrichment Center. The branch was dedicated to the memory of former library trustee Edward Costa in 2018 and renamed the Edward Costa Memorial Arlington Branch.

Unlike traditional shelter models, where individuals and families may stay in shelter or temporary housing for months—or even years—housing first moves individuals and families experiencing homelessness into permanent housing as quickly as possible. Through the housing first model, those with the greatest needs are prioritized and provided with the appropriate housing supports. Once housed, the individual or family receives additional supportive services like case management, short-term rental assistance and education & employment programming to help them achieve self-sufficiency and effectively end their homelessness for good

Services: A temporary transitional and emergency shelter for homeless women and their children; provides advocacy/referral resources to residents, budget/money management, GED classes, parenting classes, counseling, life skills training and a summer program for children. McAuley House also offers a host of support services such as rental assistance, toiletries, clothing, prescription assistance, transportation means, obtaining personal documentation, and referrals to housing and other medical or vocational resources. Guests also are invited to participate in a number of enrichment programs, which provide support, healing and engagement.

Programs, often operated by community adult schools or other secondary or postsecondary educational entities, that offer specialized education and training related to any of a variety of occupational areas for adults who may have high school diplomas and for selected high school students or high-school-age youngsters who have the permission of a school counselor.

The mission of the College Crusade is to prepare and inspire young people in Rhode Island to become the first in their families to attend and complete college. Our organization supports approximately 4,000 students in middle school, high school, and college each year. We enroll sixth graders who attend public and public charter schools in Providence, Cranston, Pawtucket, Central Falls, Woonsocket, and West Warwick. From the time they join through their early years of college, Crusaders experience the steady, nurturing presence of caring adults and participate year-round in programs that focus on academic enrichment, social and personal development, career awareness and exploration, and preparation for college. Assisted Living at Smithfield Woods is designed for those individuals who need assistance with activities of daily living, but still understand the importance for socialization in a home-like setting. Smithfield Woods is designed to provide a worry-free environment, allowing its residents to continue the healthy and active lifestyle they are used to. Provides services including gentle reminders to take medication regularly, bathing and dressing assistance, and more.

Provides free, voluntary, confidential home visits to pregnant women and families with young children, birth to age three. Trained nurses, social workers, and community health workers meet with families in their homes to talk about their needs, answer questions they may have, and conduct comprehensive assessments. Home visits are based on the needs of the family. Visit topics may include health education and connections with appropriate healthcare services, human services, and community resources. If a child does not have a medical home, we can help the family find one.

Chestnut Court is a subsidized 62+, handicapped or disabled housing community that contains fifty units. 10% of these units are 2 bedroom handicap apartments, the remaining forty-five units are 1 bedroom apartments. Preference given to Westerly residents.

Shower to Empower links basic needs such as complimentary showers and haircuts with case management and medical navigation services in a mobile delivery model. It is aimed to provide basic needs and restore dignity to Rhode Island’s experiencing homelessness, ultimately making connections to essential services. The unit is a customized 20’ x 8.3’ trailer that includes two individual showers, heated floors, an area for case management, and an enclosed private medical space. The mobile unit travels throughout Providence alongside House of Hope CDC’s street outreach team providing hot showers, haircuts, case management, and medical navigation services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

The duty of the West Warwick EMA is to coordinate and direct the planning, organization, control, and implementation of local emergency management activities. Additional duties and activities include the following: Coordinate with community officials and with the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) as necessary to ensure the effective administration of the emergency management program; Manage, operate, and maintain the Emergency Operations Center (EOC); Establish and maintain agency emergency policies and communication procedures for all West Warwick employees and volunteers; Coordinate, develop, and implement the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for the Town of West Warwick; Prepare and distribute disaster preparedness material to the citizens of West Warwick; Coordinate the actions and uses of West Warwick assets during emergency exercises and actual occurrences of natural disasters.
