Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is available for eligible low-income households through September 30, 2023, or until funds are exhausted. The program helps eligible low-income households afford and maintain access to drinking water and wastewater services through federal grants. One-time payments are made directly to the household’s utility company.

prevention of disconnection
past-due and current water or wastewater balances
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a seasonal program from October 1st to May 1st. LIHEAP helps households stay warm in the winter through programs that reduce the risk of health and safety problems that arise from unsafe heating practices.
Per season, a one-time supplemental grant is sent directly to vendors who then credit the client’s account for the amount specified. Eligible clients also qualify for a reduced electric rate.

The Bristol Historical Society was founded in 1936 to "promote interest in historical research, stimulate the study of the history of Southern New England, especially the Town of Bristol, and collect and preserve whatever is related thereto." Prior to housing the collections in the jail building on Court Street, the Society was located at the Rogers Free Library building. In 1957, a disastrous fire at the Library destroyed many of the Society's treasures and resulted in its lease of the then abandoned Bristol County Jail for use as a museum, library and meeting space.
