A Batterers Intervention Program is a psycho-educational group led by trained professional facilitators. Each meeting is an hour and a half to two hours long, and meetings are held every week for a minimum of 20 weeks. Fees are collected, but programs can make accommodations as needed. The Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Unit investigates and mediates consumer complaints concerning unfair and unlawful business practices and misleading advertising arising out of alleged violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. If groups of people are victimized by a deceptive trade practice, this office may file in the Superior Court a civil investigative demand, which is a formal investigation. In appropriate cases, a lawsuit to stop the illegal business practice may be initiated. Apart from carrying out its statutory responsibilities, the Unit also provides information and referral services to the general public. Consumers are directed to the appropriate governmental or private agencies for help in answering specialized questions or resolving disputes that are not within the Unit's jurisdiction.

13 room home for community based program is located on the periphery of Pawtucket's business district. The primary objective is to provide residential services for adolescent males. As members of the community, the residents are afforded the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational, recreational and cultural programs. All residents attend school locally with staff providing supplementary and remedial academic assistance. The program provides a clinican licensed at the independent level which may include a licensed psychologist, a licensed mental health professional, a licensed independent social worker or a licensed marriage and family therapist. The clinician will have weekly individual and group contact with each resident and provide consultation to staff, DCYF caseworkers and the resident's parent or guardian. Family therapy will also be provided when appropriate. The clinician will also provide consultation with other mental health professionals, school personnel and assist with crisis intervention while making appropriate treatment referrals.
