Tri-County Community Action Agency offers assistance with all aspects of essential needs and daily living, including food assistance. Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue hobbies which involve painting, ceramics, crafts and other art forms in cooperation with others who have the same interests, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable or skilled in the area. Some arts and crafts clubs may also provide space for activities, provide access to discounts on materials and tools, sponsor exhibits or sales of art or craft pieces created by members, publish a newsletter or provide access to a library of resources about the subject. RSVP volunteers recruit and manage other volunteers, participate in environmental projects, mentor and tutor children, deliver meals to the homebound and respond to natural disasters, among many other activities.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

Hospital charity care requirements cover those essential services necessary to diagnose, correct, or cure a medical condition that endangers life, causes pain and suffering, results in illness or infirmity, or causes a physical deformity or malfunction. Both inpatient and outpatient services are included. To receive full charity care, patients annual family income must be up to and including 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For partial charity care, patients annual family income must be between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive assistance based on a sliding scale. In addition to income, hospitals have the option to consider other assets. Also must be denied from Medicaid first depending on income. Blue Cross & Blues Shield of RI (BCBSRI) offers health and dental coverage to Rhode Island-based employers, individuals and families, and people eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.

Services: Addictions and impulse control disorders, child and adolescent issues, family/couples issues, mood disorders, personal issues/personality disorders, anxiety, vocational counseling, addiction intervention.

The Center provides hearing testing for about 600 people each year as well as hearing aid assistance for several hundred clients. In addition, about 40 evaluations are conducted annually related to speech therapy needs and approximately 60 clients per year are seen for on-going therapeutic services. Services include (but are not limited to) diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aid evaluations and dispensation; aural rehabilitation; assessment of and treatment for voice, articulation, fluency, and language disorders; communication and cognitive therapy for adults with neurological disorders resulting from strokes or traumatic brain injuries; and programs to improve fluency for ESL clients.

The Visitation Center serves families whose children are in the care of DCYF due to substance use or mental health concerns. Families are able to have supervised visits in a home-like setting while receiving support in their recovery. The program provides for: Supervised Visits - Visits in a home environment with a focus on everyday family activities. Clinical Oversight - consultation and assessment, observation and clinical work around visits, assistance with coordination of supports and help with parenting skill building. Family Recovery Coaching - support with the recovery process, information and resource connections and help navigating the child welfare system. Transportation - transportation for the children to visits, if needed.

Thrive Behavioral Health's mission is to improve the quality of life for men, women, children and families facing behavioral health challenges. They do this through a wide range of mental health, substance abuse and trauma-informed programs, and with the commitment of experienced and dedicated professionals. Staff collaborates fully to ensure a holistic approach to care that treats the person, not the illness. Provides residential services to adults with psychiatric disabilities, 18 - 75. Assertive case management services provided by the mobile treatment team to the supported living facilities, scattered site apartments in the East Bay area, and adults wit psychiatric disabilities and dually disordered adults living independently in the community in various living accommodations. The Kent Center and Riverwood Mental Health Services merged in 2017 to form Thrive Behavioral Health. Programs that provide a graded system of learning in a formal school setting from grades nine or 10 through 12 for adolescents who usually range in age from 13 or 14 to 18. High schools provide formal instruction for students who want to prepare themselves for further education at the college/university level as well as those who prefer to seek employment immediately after high school graduation. The curriculum for students who are planning to terminate their formal education focuses on vocational preparation whereas that for college/university-bound students focuses on providing the required number of hours of instruction in targeted subjects to enable them to meet college/university entrance requirements.
