OSDRI’s Real Pathways Employment and Training Program is focused on providing veterans the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the labor force. Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, are among the services that are provided. Supportive services such as clothing, temporary financial assistance with housing, referral to medical and substance abuse treatment, childcare, legal assistance and transportation coordination are also provided to meet the needs of this target group. Employment and Training is focused on eliminating barriers by providing veterans and their families the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the workforce. They work with Active Duty Military Personnel, National Guard, Reservists, Veterans and Military Families on a one-on-one basis to assist with Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, education. OSDRI works with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and their Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) within the American Job Center (AJC) to provide crossover services and additional coverage for eligible clients in need of HVRP assistance. Real Pathways Rhode Island- OSDRI's Real Pathways Program funded the Governor's Workforce Board Real Pathways RI program" Real Pathways RI invests in workforce partnerships that include education and training entities that specialize in advancing career pathways. Partnerships are demand-driven and linked to the larger workforce development network and is designed to help veterans and their families obtain employment, increase education and obtain appropriate credentials.

The Victim Services Unit provides an array of services to felony crime victims and their families and informs victims of their rights as guaranteed under the Rhode Island Constitution and the Victim's Bill of Rights. Also lead the way in environmental enforcements, promote open and transparent government, Stan up for Rhode Island workers, engage with communities, community violence intervention Advocates are assigned to victims and their families to provide guidance and support through the criminal justice process - informing them of their rights, notifying them of the status of the offender’s case, providing personal assistance at court appearances and helping them better understand and participate in the legal process. In addition, the Unit provides referrals to other victim-service provider agencies and support groups that can further assist victims with financial, legal, medical and emotional problems resulting from the crime. Unit advocates also assist prosecutors with all victim-related matters.

SRIV's mission is to recruit volunteers, of all ages, and match their skills and interests to provide direct services to seniors and others in need and to support our community partners in Washington County and Jamestown. Volunteer at one or more of 50 plus Community Partners in a myriad of meaningful opportunities or internally at SRIV making a difference in some of the following ways:
  • Independent Aging Services Program: Transport assistance for homebound seniors or disabled adults to healthcare appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores and housing appointments; Delivery of food Meals on Wheels and/or farmers’ markets (or placement at a food pantry); Grocery shopping and delivery for a senior client; Companionship/visitation for a home bound older senior and/or respite care for their full-time caregiver; Minor home repairs (very minor—larger jobs are referred to partner agencies), fall clean ups and snow removal for walkways for senior safety.

Whether you are a retiree with extra time on your hands, a student looking to fulfill community service hours, a mom or dad with mid-day hours, or an individual or group interested in being involved, SRIV has an opportunity for you!
