Programs within the formal criminal justice system that provide facilities for the detention of people who have been charged with a crime and are awaiting trial, and/or the confinement, treatment, employment, training and discipline of people who have been sentenced to imprisonment after conviction for a criminal offense.

The mission of the Woonsocket Senior Center is to improve quality of life and to maintain individuals in their preferred home environment in the community through nutrition programs, Health & Wellness Education, Adult Day Program, and Information and Referral. Senior Services, Inc. has provided services to seniors and adults with disabilities residing in Northern Rhode Island since 1975. In accordance with the Congregate Meal Program financed through a grant with R.I. Office of Healthy Aging, Senior Services, Inc. provides nutritionally balanced lunches five days a week at meal sites throughout northern R.I. Senior Services, Inc. offers activities, entertainment, computer classes, and Wellness programs, including our weekly blood pressure clinic and exercise classes. Senior Services, Inc. also offers an Adult Day Program ("A Home for the Day"), and a Community Information Specialist who can provide information on eligibility for all state and local programs.

South County Health offers The Patient Financial Advocacy Program to reach patients with payment and financial support options at the time of registration. The office is located at the Emergency Room entrance and is open daily. The office provides hospital care without charge to uninsured Rhode Island residents who meet income guidelines. Hospital charity care requirements cover those essential services necessary to diagnose, correct, or cure a medical condition that endangers life, causes pain and suffering, results in illness or infirmity, or causes a physical deformity or malfunction. Both inpatient and outpatient services are included. To receive full charity care, patients annual family income must be up to and including 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For partial charity care, patients annual family income must be between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive assistance based on a sliding scale. In addition to income, hospitals have the option to consider other assets. Also must be denied from Medicaid first depending on income. Hands On Disaster Response (HODR) is a US-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that provides hands-on assistance to survivors of natural disasters around the world. Supports volunteers with housing, meals, tools, and organized work at no charge in order to provide free and effective response services to communities in need. Programs are directed by the needs of each community in which they work, ensuring a timely, relevant, and culturally sensitive response.

Family Support Center provides basic needs assistance to low income households and connects families to financial literacy and other programs to strengthen their financial condition. The Family Support Center serves low and moderate income Woonsocket residents depending on eligibility requirements for fund-specific programs.

Technology Demonstrations- TechACCESS provides in-person or virtual demonstrations (up to 1 hour) of assistive technology to the public. Appointments are required. Demonstrations are provided based on tools identified by the individual.

Welcome House offers a community soup kitchen every weekday, located in the main facility at 8 North Road in Peace Dale, RI. All individuals and families in need are welcome to join for lunch.

The Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County works toward a future free from violence. They work collaboratively to offer safety, support, advocacy, education and a network of services to residents of Washington County. DVRCSC has a confidential safe home for women who face homelessness as a result of domestic violence. Additional services include a Drop-In Advocacy Center, Support Groups and One-on-One Counseling by appointment. They offer education and outreach on the subject of healthy relationships, dating violence, cyber stalking and techno-abuse. DVRCSC can provide Court Advocates at McGrath Judicial Complex in Wakefield.

Greenwood Center, located in Warwick, provides skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation therapy. The center is affiliated with Genesis HealthCare and serves up to 123 residents and patients at a time. Greenwood Center has served Kent County since 1964.

Subsidized family housing

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.
