Chad Brown is located adjacent to the Admiral Terrace development in the city’s Wanskuck neighborhood, and the two (along with a senior/disabled development on-site called Sunset Village) are collectively referred to as “Chad Brown”. Admiral Terrace was completed in 1951 and, along with Chad Brown, underwent a $16.5 million modernization project from 1986 to 1989. More recently, the on-site community center was renovated and an outdoor tot lot was installed. The community center has a gym, offices, meeting/activity rooms and a computer center. Admiral Terrace is comprised of 2 story brick row-house buildings with units ranging in size from two to four bedrooms.

Senior Inpatient Treatment Unit: Inpatient services for adults age 65 years and older, the geriatric unit is led by a specialized treatment team well versed in conditions such as Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders as well as depression, anxiety and other mood or psychotic disorders that may cause behavioral difficulties. The clinical team works to stabilize the patient for return home or to an assisted living campus with a comprehensive transition of care process. Memory and Aging Program: An internationally renowned research program dedicated to developing breakthroughs in prevention and treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, while this is not a clinical care program, it offers hope to those at risk or exhibiting memory loss symptoms. With multiple research trials underway, including registry for future studies, participants are people with normal memory who may be at jeopardy for dementia and those who are already experiencing signs of cognitive decline.

A 70 bed comprehensive inpatient/outpatient medical rehabilitation program, transitional care unit, neuro behavioral unit for stroke and brain injury patients, transitional living apartments, staff of specialized medical rehabilitation therapists and nursing professionals. Stroke Specialty The Stroke Specialty Rehabilitation Program, a CARF recognized program, provides adults needing therapy to improve their function and quality of life. Our patients have been diagnosed with cerebral vascular accidents (CVA), intracranial hemorrhages, and thrombo/embolic strokes. Neurorehabilitation This program treats patients with diagnoses such as brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis. Our dedicated staff work with patients to regain the skills to walk, communicate and live more independently. Our therapists also treat patients with cognitive and/or behavioral disabilities. Orthopedic Our rehabilitation program treats patients after hip fractures, joint replacement, and multiple trauma. We strive to always improve our therapy, and our orthopedic program’s innovations have been published in major rehabilitation journals. Smith Hill Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing safe, affordable housing. Smith Hill CDC offers home ownership and rental opportunities in the Smith Hill and Wanskuck neighborhoods of Providence, Rhode Island. Since its incorporation over 175 rental, homeowner, condominium, and landlord units have been established. Additionally, it is the first CDC in Rhode Island to offer Permanent Supportive Housing for survivors of domestic violence. As well as housing development and management, the Smith Hill CDC offers resident services, community garden beautification, youth programming, and neighborhood events.

The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop using drugs. Open and closed weekly meetings, groups for a specific population (i.e. Gay or Hispanic) and non-smoking meetings.

PCA Program OSCIL’s Personal Care Attendant (PCA) program provides an alternative for persons with disability who are at risk of nursing home placement and in need of personal care attendant services, but are unable to access the traditional RI Medicaid Assistant Program. Eligible participants must be unable to acquire these services through other PCA programs and meet this criteria: they are significantly physically disabled assessed as needing services in order to maintain independence are capable of managing their attendants found to be eligible by all other program guidelines. This program is designed to allow consumers maintain their independence within their home.
