Everyone experiences tough times. Having help when you need it is the key to facing these challenges. Community Care Alliance strives to empower people experiencing economic insecurity, mental illness and addiction, housing issues, and trauma-related concerns. They provide clinical and support services for individuals and families with long-term needs associated with mental illness and substance abuse. Their goal is to help people live as independently and as fully integrated within the community as possible These might include basic needs assistance to address emergencies— counseling, treatment, support services and residential programs for individuals and families impacted by serious mental illness and addiction— emergency and supportive housing to prevent homelessness and promote stabilization— alternative education and services for families with young children and adolescents— and employment, financial literacy and vocational training to improve self-sufficiency.

Gateway Healthcare is Rhode Island’s largest nonprofit behavioral health organization providing treatment, intervention and prevention services to individuals in our community. Our mission is: Delivering health with care. It is reflected throughout the organization and drives every element of our day-to-day work. Gateway Healthcare's crisis/emergency services department delivers 24-hour emergency services, assessment and crisis intervention. Technology Demonstrations- TechACCESS provides in-person or virtual demonstrations (up to 1 hour) of assistive technology to the public. Appointments are required. Demonstrations are provided based on tools identified by the individual.

Services: A temporary transitional and emergency shelter for homeless women and their children; provides advocacy/referral resources to residents, budget/money management, GED classes, parenting classes, counseling, life skills training and a summer program for children. Lucy's Hearth is an affiliate of Family Service of Rhode Island. Income Source: State; local; private; fund raisers.

Thundermist offers a sliding scale discount program for those with or without insurance who's income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)

Substance Abuse Outpatient Counseling Services offer weekly individual or group counseling sessions to clients who are abusing drugs and alcohol.

Lawn School is a public school for students in grades 5-8. Jamestown School Department provides a rigorous, standards based curriculum with a balanced literacy program, real-world mathematics, hands-on science and civics education preparing students for 21st century learning. Jamestown schools have adopted computer science, coding and science, technology, engineering, arts & mathematics (S.T.E.A.M) based opportunities as key components of the curriculum. Currently both schools in the district have a fully furnished makerspace lab with 3-d printers, green screens and Edison robots.

Services: Multi-service support agency for gay, lesbian, bisexual, questioning or transgendered youth, ages 13 - 22, at all stages of the coming out process. Offers support, education, referrals and social activities. Group facilitated by a social worker. Drop in center open from Noon - 8pm at 171 Chestnut Street.

Programs within the formal criminal justice system that provide facilities for the detention of people who have been charged with a crime and are awaiting trial, and/or the confinement, treatment, employment, training and discipline of people who have been sentenced to imprisonment after conviction for a criminal offense.

Provides necessities to parents including diapers/pull ups, baby clothes, baby swings, car seats, baby bouncers and rockers. Call to schedule an appointment or Walk-in Must bring Photo ID and Birth Cert (or Proof of guardianship)

Family financial support may cover household expenses such as rent, mortgage, utility payments, medical bills, parking passes and other essentials. The Tomorrow Fund provides daily monetary stipends (allowances) for all children who are admitted to Hasbro Children's Hospital overnight as well as travel stipends (allowances) for patients traveling out of state for bone marrow transplant or medical treatment not available in Rhode Island. Families of children with cancer often incur enormous financial burdens. The loss of income, the costs of meals, babysitting and transportation to the hospital often break family budgets while their child is facing a life threatening illness. The Tomorrowfund anticipates the needs of our families, providing the resources and programs that bring a degree of normalcy to life in the midst of a battle for life itself.

Women, Infants & Children (WIC) is a supplemental nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new moms, infants and children up to the age of 5 stay healthy by providing: Quality Nutrition education and counseling A monthly food package of nutritious foods Breastfeeding education and support Access to community resources

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.

Services: A national voluntary health organization whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education and advocacy. Income Source: Public contributions; fund raising events; bequests.

OSDRI’s Real Pathways Employment and Training Program is focused on providing veterans the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the labor force. Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, are among the services that are provided. Supportive services such as clothing, temporary financial assistance with housing, referral to medical and substance abuse treatment, childcare, legal assistance and transportation coordination are also provided to meet the needs of this target group. Employment and Training is focused on eliminating barriers by providing veterans and their families the employment and training services they need in order to re-enter the workforce. They work with Active Duty Military Personnel, National Guard, Reservists, Veterans and Military Families on a one-on-one basis to assist with Job placement, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation, education. OSDRI works with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and their Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) within the American Job Center (AJC) to provide crossover services and additional coverage for eligible clients in need of HVRP assistance. Real Pathways Rhode Island- OSDRI's Real Pathways Program funded the Governor's Workforce Board Real Pathways RI program" Real Pathways RI invests in workforce partnerships that include education and training entities that specialize in advancing career pathways. Partnerships are demand-driven and linked to the larger workforce development network and is designed to help veterans and their families obtain employment, increase education and obtain appropriate credentials.
