Programs that provide a full range of supportive services for terminally ill individuals who are in the final stages of their illnesses and for their families. Services may include medical care, pain and symptom management, home nurse visitation, case management, emotional and spiritual support, and bereavement services for the patient and members of the family. Hospice care may be provided at home, in a freestanding hospice facility, a hospice unit of a hospital or in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes. In order to qualify for Medicaid or Medicare reimbursement, an individual must have a life threatening illness and must be certified by their physician to have entered the last six months of life.

A faith-based community outreach program designed to offer after-care services to previously incarcerated persons who are returning to Newport County from the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institution (ACI) and helps the homeless. Services include mentoring, supportive services, legal/social assistance, financial assistance (rent, GED, college course), transportation, food, and clothing.

Services: Residential support in group homes and apartments; health and life education; behavior management; Independent Living Program; family support. Serving people, 21+ with physical/developmental needs. Provides a home-like environment wherein the resident is challenged to discover her/his own unique dignity and worth. Emphasizes consistent and individualized programming to encourage each resident to develop to his/her greatest potential and to have as much control over their own lives as they are capable of having. Support also supplied to persons living in their own homes, apartments or their family home.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis. Listening Beyond Words is a community-based learning opportunity program offered by The Samaritans of Rhode Island in effort to increase awareness of the importance of nonjudgmental listening at home, at work and in the community. The class is 1.5 hours long, and taught by staff and senior volunteers for up to 20 people per session.

The RI Department of Labor and Training provides workforce development, workforce security and workforce protection to the state's workers, employers and citizens, offering employment services, educational services and economic opportunity to both individuals and employers. DLT protects the workforce by enforcing labor laws, prevailing wage rates and workplace health and safety standards. The department also provides temporary income support to unemployed and temporarily disabled workers.
