Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. Financial asistance is intended to ensure all patients receive essential emergency and other medically necessary healthcare services provided by CNE regardless of their ability to pay. To that end, CNE will assist individuals who do not otherwise have the ability to pay charges as determined under CNE’s qualification criteria and takes into account each individual’s ability to contribute to the cost of his or her care. CNE financial assistance is not intended to serve as a substitute for employer-sponsored, privately purchased, third party liability, state or federally funded assistance or insurance programs. To receive full charity care, patients annual family income must be up to and including 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For partial charity care, patients annual family income must be between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive assistance based on a sliding scale. In addition to income, hospitals have the option to consider other assets. Also must be denied from Medicaid first depending on income. The United States Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) was created in 1976 to assist low-income families. WAP is operated in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and in Native American tribes. Funds are used to improve the energy efficiency of low-income homes using the most advanced technologies and testing protocols available in the housing industry. The energy conservation resulting from the efforts of state and local agencies helps our country reduce its dependency on foreign oil and decreases the cost of energy for families in need while improving the health and safety of their homes. Programs within the formal criminal justice system that provide facilities for the detention of people who have been charged with a crime and are awaiting trial, and/or the confinement, treatment, employment, training and discipline of people who have been sentenced to imprisonment after conviction for a criminal offense.

When there are physical barriers in the home that need to be addressed; through the Home Access/Home Modification program, OSCIL offers a comprehensive independent living assessment services as requested by private individuals, vendors, Medicaid and State agencies. Comprehensive assessments provide recommendations for specialized equipment, home modifications and/or independent living services that are required for the consumer to achieve goals for independence in the home and community. This might include making modifications to the home itself such as adding a ramp or renovating a bathroom.

Programs that intercede on behalf of individuals and/or groups to ensure that they receive the benefits and services for which they are eligible and that organizations within the established service delivery system meet the collective needs of the community; that attempt to marshal public support for a particular issue or cause; or that seek to influence legislation, local ordinances or administrative rulings in order to benefit specific interest groups or achieve specific social, political or environmental goals.

Walk-in resource center, accepts drop-in visits from any formerly incarcerated person. We maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive file of resources in major life areas such as housing, employment, education, medical, mental health, substance abuse, and transportation. Clients can use our telephone or computer lab to communicate with employers, family members, and probation or parole officers. Our resource center has a full schedule of programming, ranging from job readiness to financial literacy to support groups. We can also serve as a temporary address. Blackstone Valley Community health Care (BVCHC) has established a program that reduces fees charged to patients based on their income and family size. The categories we use are based on percentages of “Poverty Level” as annually determined by the federal government. Qualifying patients will pay a nominal fee if they qualify for 100% of poverty. Patients between 101% and 200% will pay a amount depending on their family size and percentage of poverty. Every program has requirements and BVCHC’s Sliding Fee Program is no different.

Rhode Island's Statewide Self-Advocacy organization. Works to help people understand information more clearly, learn about rights, participate in their communities and share their unique gifts with the rest of society. Also works to raise public awareness about disabilities. Activities include:

• Hosting an annual statewide Self-Advocacy

conference. Approximately 430 people attend.

• Hosting an annual Statewide Self-Advocacy Town Hall style meeting. Approximately 300 people attend.
• Designing/Adapting accessible materials in a variety of formats to help people understand issues related to Self-Advocacy.
• Coordinating a year-long Leadership Series training for individuals who have a Developmental Disability, families and direct support staff.
• Bringing disability awareness experiences to schools, colleges, businesses, support agencies and others.
