The Cumberland Senior Center is committed to providing an array of quality services to enrich and educate their senior citizens. They encourage and assist individuals in achieving a lifestyle in which they can remain an active and productive member of the community. Services include day trips and exercise classes. Membership is $8 per year to join the Cumberland Senior Center. Non-residents' cost is $12 for the annual membership. Programs: a variety of educational, informational and recreational programs for seniors are offered through the year. Senior Van - transportation is available, including center pick-ups and drop-offs, for local shopping and appointments. Daily Lunches - $3 lunches are served daily at 11:30. Reservations are needed.

One of the core functions of the Ocean State Center for Independent Living is assisting people with disabilities to move out of nursing homes and other institutions into the independent living arrangement of their choice, as well as helping to prevent people with disabilities from entering these institutions. The Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL), a non-residential, non-profit organization, can help seniors and adults with disabilities who are interested in transitioning from nursing facilities back into the community—either moving back to their own home or apartment or to the home of a relative or friend. OSCIL’s Community Living Option Program has been assisting persons with disabilities to move from a nursing home setting to a less restrictive environment for many years. OSCIL staff is able to work with each individual to identify their specific needs, help secure appropriate housing, establish community connections and obtain support services—all necessary for a safe and sustainable transition. For adolescent girls, 13-17. Provides individual, group and family counseling in a long-term residential treatment program for women in recovery from chemical dependency. Daily living in a family atmosphere develops a sense of normalcy and belonging in a non-threatening, supportive, educative and chemically free environment. The program places a strong emphasis on the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Assertiveness training as well as physical and recreational activities are designed to improve health and appearance. Special emphasis is placed on helping each woman develop positive feelings of self-worth that will support the ultimate goal of sobriety. A relapse prevention specialist provides residential and outpatient relapse prevention services. Eastman House also offers a continuing after care program.
