Hands On Disaster Response (HODR) is a US-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that provides hands-on assistance to survivors of natural disasters around the world. Supports volunteers with housing, meals, tools, and organized work at no charge in order to provide free and effective response services to communities in need. Programs are directed by the needs of each community in which they work, ensuring a timely, relevant, and culturally sensitive response.

Purpose: To understand when and where influenza activity is occurring, to monitor influenza-related illness, outbreaks, hospitalizations, and deaths, and to determine circulating and emerging influenza virus strains. Key Information: Geographic spread and activity level of influenza in the state, laboratory test results, and influenza-related hospitalizations and deaths. Influenza-like-illness (ILI) is defined as patients with a fever over 100°F with cough and/or sore throat (unless there is a known cause other than the flu). Collection Period: Data is collected and analyzed weekly throughout the flu season from October to May. How data are collected The Department of Health has a number of methods for gathering data. This includes gathering reports on the number of patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) from a sample of sentinel physicians and collecting data from hospitals throughout the state. The services of the State Health Laboratory are used to determine the circulating strains of influenza. Additionally, a staff of epidemiologists work with CDC guidance to determine flu activity levels.

Hopkins Manor, Ltd. is a 200-bed skilled nursing facility providing traditional nursing home care as well as sub-acute rehabilitation, hospice, respite and alzheimer’s care. They can accommodate both long and short term placement and resident admissions are facilitated seven days a week. Treatment programs integrate nursing, dietary, activities and other disciplines to promote recovery of functional skills. Assault Prevention Program offers personal safety programs to students in preschool through college. Day One serves victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and other violent crimes. Services include the 24-hour Victims of Crime Helpline; crisis intervention, individual and group counseling for children and adults, advocacy (including legal advocacy) for victims and their families.
