Welcome to Warwick Public Schools! OSCIL offers opportunities for persons with disabilities to share similar interests and concerns and gain greater awareness of opportunities for independence. People are encouraged to call OSCIL at any time for this connection. Peer support is one of the fundamentals of a CIL. Peer “mentors” provide role modeling and share experiences, feelings, and awareness of disability issues. Through peer support there is a full exchange of brainstorming, problem solving, and sharing of concerns, successes and ways to address issues. The peer support relationship allows for the more experienced person to provide information and support and serve as a positive role model to the person whose disability might be new or more recent. Many of OSCIL staff members provide peer support in a number of areas, including but not limited to: visual and hearing impairments, arthritis, orthopedic issues, diabetes, and more. PEER SUPPORT GROUPS OSCIL holds several monthly peer support groups, the purpose of which is to provide individuals with similar issues a chance to talk about their own conditions, experiences and concerns. By talking with people who truly understand what they are going through, individuals can gain practical insights to maximize the potential for successful independent living. The Dental Hygiene Clinic can help prevent oral disease and maintain optimal oral health. www.ccri.edu/clinic Cleanings include blood pressure monitoring, oral cancer screening, periodontal examination, polishing, fluoride treatment and information on dental health. The appointment length is two hours. All persons given appointments will be screened for potential physician consultation and made aware of the approximate time required to complete treatments, as well as the fee for the treatments provided. Children are to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and are not to be left unattended in the reception area. Parent/guardian must remain in the reception area throughout treatment. Infants are not allowed into the clinic.

The Adolescent Health Center serves as a �medical home� for the Met students. It serves students from ages 13 to 20. Services:

St. Joseph Health Center provides an Asthma Control Program

Provides advocacy in court for the best interests of children who are the victims of abuse and/or neglect and are therefore involved with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and the Rhode Island Family Court. Staff includes attorney, guardians ad litem and Social Caseworkers. Program also trains volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Village House offers the comforts of home for those who need short-term recuperation or rehabilitation following a hospital stay. They also offer long-term care for those with chronic conditions or respite care when family caregivers need someone to step into their shoes for a short time. For those with a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia, the special care rooms provide the peace of mind that only a secure environment staffed by those specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care can provide. Big Picture Learning was established with the sole mission of putting students directly at the center of their own learning. BPL co-founders Dennis Littky and Elliot Washor merged their thirty years of experience as teachers and principals and their distinct national reputations to launch this new innovation in education. With an intention to demonstrate that schooling and education can and should be radically changed, Big Picture Learning was born.

Services: Houses 29 families and 8 women daily. Shelter stays are limited to 90 days but can be renewed based on progress demonstrated by participants or impending permanent housing. Case managers assist participants with healthcare, employment and establishing permanent housing. Help also available for: mental health issues, addiction, developmental delays in children, parenting and domestic violence. Case managers access services directly through Family Resources Community Action Program or collaborative agreements with other local non profit organizations.
