CareBreaks Respite Services Caring for a loved one can often be overwhelming, so the CareBreaks program offers the gift of time. It can help family caregivers arrange for, and perhaps help pay for, a break. A break for a caregiver may include bringing a volunteer or paid worker into the home, arranging for your loved one to attend a safe day program, or even placing your loved one in an overnight facility for a short period of time. CareBreaks may be used occasionally or at regularly scheduled times. This gives the caregiver time to shop, get medical care, attend to personal matters, rest, vacation, etc.

Services: The mission of the Poverty Institute is to promote economic security for low and moderate income Rhode Islanders and equitable tax and budget policies. We provide research, policy analysis, education, and advocacy on state and federal budget proposals, public benefit programs, adult education and economic development.

Emergency Food Pantry Outreach Services are offered to the senior (60+) and disabled adult population of Scituate to assist with applications for financial and benefit assistance, including SNAP (Food Stamps), Fuel Assistance, Housing, and Medical Insurance, as well as information or referral to Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry.

Knightsville Manor is a subsidized housing unit 62+, handicapped or disabled.

Services: Thirteen senior meal sites in northern Rhode Island serve a weekday lunch geared to the nutrition requirements of people over 60 (reservations required). Weekday day care for frail seniors and disabled; information and referral including assistance with health insurance, fuel assistance, tax abatements and enrollment in benefit programs. The mission of the Woonsocket Senior Center is to improve quality of life and to maintain individuals in their preferred home environment in the community through nutrition programs, Health & Wellness Education, Adult Day Program, and Information and Referral. Senior Services, Inc. has provided services to seniors and adults with disabilities residing in Northern Rhode Island since 1975. In accordance with the Congregate Meal Program financed through a grant with R.I. Office of Healthy Aging, Senior Services, Inc. provides nutritionally balanced lunches five days a week at meal sites throughout northern R.I. Senior Services, Inc. offers activities, entertainment, computer classes, and Wellness programs, including our weekly blood pressure clinic and exercise classes. Senior Services, Inc. also offers an Adult Day Program ("A Home for the Day"), and a Community Information Specialist who can provide information on eligibility for all state and local programs.

A written exam is required for applicants who possess an out-of-state 33-hour certificate and can only be processed in Pawtucket (Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm). This branch also issues Identification cards. � If you are moving to Rhode Island from out-of-state and currently possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) you must go to the Pawtucket Branch ONLY.
