The Family Futures Financial Literacy Program: a six-week course with weekly one-hour sessions covering basic budgeting, basic banking, traps/pay day lenders, debt management, job training, and understanding utilities bills. In addition to the basic curriculum, participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a financial coach. The Family Futures Financial Literacy Program is recommended to all clients who participate in our programs. Weekly office hours for SNAP outreach workers who assist clients with completion of SNAP (Food Stamp) applications.

Avatar is a certified Placement Agency for Shared Living programs throughout Rhode Island. Avatar Residential was one of the first agencies in Rhode Island to provide Shared Living Arrangements (SLAs) as an alternative to group home living. The key to success is a strong relationship between residents and Shared Living Providers. Avatar coordinates 27 SLAs throughout the state of RI. Some of the people that Avatar supports have found a good fit in their apartment/independent living programs. They tailor services to what people need (shopping, budgeting, recreation) while also fostering a great deal of independence and self-sufficiency. Avatar also provides residential services to people who live at home with their families.

A children's policy and advocacy organization that provides information on child well being, stimulates dialogue on children's issues and promotes accountability and action. The annual Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook provides a detailed community by community picture of the condition of children in the State. Rhode Island KIDS COUNT also publishes a quarterly Issue Brief series that provides additional data and policy analysis on children's issues. Rhode Island KIDS COUNT contributes to public policy development by leading and participating in government committees, providing information and data based testimony to policy makers and convening public policy forums.

SAMHSA’s Disaster Distress Helpline provides 24/7, 365-day-a-year crisis counseling and support to people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. This crisis support service is for anyone experiencing emotional distress related to disasters such as: Tornadoes and Severe Storms, Hurricanes and Tropical Storms, Floods, Wildfires, Earthquakes, Drought, Incidents of Mass Violence. The Disaster Distress Helpline also answers calls and texts related to infectious disease outbreaks, such as the Ebola outbreak, incidents of community unrest, and other traumatic events. This service is hotline /online only.
