THE SCITUATE ANIMAL SHELTER is a municipal facility under the supervision of Scituate Animal Control, a division of the Scituate, Rhode Island Police Department. They take in animals from Scituate and Foster and provide care until we can find good homes for them. They also socialize all cats and dogs who need such work in order to be ready for life in a home and with a family. The shelter staff and the volunteers will go to great lengths to find homes for all animals that we have at the shelter.

Turning The Corner operates a network of group homes including a 30-day shelter and assessment program, a program for adolescents with development disabilities, two programs for adolescent males with abuse reactive issues, and a mental health wellness and recovery program. Treatment population includes a diverse cross-section of youth (including LBGTQ youth) with histories of abuse, neglect and trauma – some with developmental disabilities, complex psychiatric diagnoses, sexual offense charges, substance abuse issues, gang affiliation, and issues of domestic violence. All have parents or caregivers who are unable to provide safety and stability for the youth at the present time. TTC is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). It’s also a member agency of the Rhode Island Council of Resource Providers (RICORP), for children, youth and families.

Rhode Island KIDS COUNT also publishes a quarterly Issue Brief series that provides additional data and policy analysis on children's issues. Rhode Island KIDS COUNT contributes to public policy development by leading and participating in government committees, providing information and data based testimony to policy makers and convening public policy forums.

The Veterans Transitional Supportive Program (VTSP) is a collaborative effort by the Rhode Island Veterans Home and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to assist homeless veterans in their return to community living. The objectives of treatment are to have each veteran achieve an optimal level of functioning mentally, physically, vocationally and socially so when community housing is located they will not experience homelessness again. Residents typically can remain in the program from six months to a year where they are assisted with substance abuse treatment, work therapy, case management services, individual counseling, medical and psychiatric treatment and discharge planning. Each veteran is expected to develop an individualized treatment plan and work with his/her case manager to resolve those issues which contributed to his homelessness.

Casey Farm, with scenic views of Narragansett Bay, was established in the Colonial era (circa 1750). At that time it cultivated produce for both foreign and domestic markets. The farm is now part of a unique agriculture program that produces organically grown flowers, herbs and vegetables that are available at the Farmers Market. Visitors are welcome to tour the farmyard and the old Casey cemetery. Educational programs are available for children. Casey Farm also Provides Summer Camp for children as well.

Foster Grandparents make their neighborhoods stronger by assisting children in need at schools, Head Start sites, Boys & Girls Clubs, libraries and other non-profit organizations. Volunteers must be 55 years or older and meet certain income eligibility requirements.
