Services: A small independent day school founded in 1999 to provide a unique educational environment for children with multiple learning differences. The goal was to create a school that would provide children with the opportunity to reach their full academic and social potential. The founding members of the Board, including educators, clinical specialists and a family, created a model that emphasizes the development of core grade level skills taught through a therapeutically guided curriculum. As a result, our students make significant gains academically and socially.

The South Kingstown Animal Shelter accepts neglected, abandoned, and/or stray dogs, cats, and other domestic animals. The Animal Shelter is committed to improving the quality of life of all strays in its care. To this end, adoption applicants are carefully screened. All possible medical care, including preventative attention, is given to the animals. The Animal Shelter continues to maintain a policy of euthanizing animals only for extreme behavioral problems or incurable medical conditions.

Next Stop BROADWAY® is a week-long performing arts program consisting of classes, workshops, and rehearsals focused on classic Broadway shows. Participants (“cast members”) learn songs and choreography from two hit shows from the “Golden Age of Broadway” and create their own presentations based on shows in the upcoming PPAC season and other hit musicals. In addition to dance and vocal training, the program includes a mid-week “edu-tainment” segment, highlighted with film clips of Broadway shows.

For adolescent girls, 13-17. Provides individual, group and family counseling in a long-term residential treatment program for women in recovery from chemical dependency. Daily living in a family atmosphere develops a sense of normalcy and belonging in a non-threatening, supportive, educative and chemically free environment. The program places a strong emphasis on the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Assertiveness training as well as physical and recreational activities are designed to improve health and appearance. Special emphasis is placed on helping each woman develop positive feelings of self-worth that will support the ultimate goal of sobriety. A relapse prevention specialist provides residential and outpatient relapse prevention services. Eastman House also offers a continuing after care program.
