Shower to Empower links basic needs such as complimentary showers and haircuts with case management and medical navigation services in a mobile delivery model. It is aimed to provide basic needs and restore dignity to Rhode Island’s experiencing homelessness, ultimately making connections to essential services. The unit is a customized 20’ x 8.3’ trailer that includes two individual showers, heated floors, an area for case management, and an enclosed private medical space. The mobile unit travels throughout Providence alongside House of Hope CDC’s street outreach team providing hot showers, haircuts, case management, and medical navigation services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

This support group is for parents of adults or older children with Asperger's Syndrome. It is free and meets the second Monday of each month during the school year. SAMHSA’s Disaster Distress Helpline provides 24/7, 365-day-a-year crisis counseling and support to people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. This crisis support service is for anyone experiencing emotional distress related to disasters such as: Tornadoes and Severe Storms, Hurricanes and Tropical Storms, Floods, Wildfires, Earthquakes, Drought, Incidents of Mass Violence. The Disaster Distress Helpline also answers calls and texts related to infectious disease outbreaks, such as the Ebola outbreak, incidents of community unrest, and other traumatic events. Volunteers are needed for Friendly visiting and telephoning programs. Their role is to provide companionship, encouragement and support. Volunteers are required to attend training, satellite meetings and regional workshops. Volunteers will visit in person or by phone a homebound elder, nursing home or assisted living resident, or veteran once a week for one hour. Volunteers will act as an advocate on their behalf when necessary.

The Arrigan Rehabilitation Center offers comprehensive physical and occupational therapy to assist injured workers who experience a variety of musculoskeletal and neurological concerns. Highly qualified therapists evaluate the injured worker, create individualized treatment plans, assess progress, and supervise all treatments. Experienced in the industrial health setting, physical and occupational therapy assistants directly provide patients with many of the daily treatments. The Center offers a spacious gym equipped with all necessary strengthening, conditioning, and flexibility equipment. The Center also possesses one of the largest therapy pools in Southern New England, 20 meters in length with a constant temperature of 92 degrees F. Provides therapeutic aquatics with the aid of temperature, buoyancy, and the gentle but firm resistive force of water. This allows for strengthening and mobility training with greater ease and less discomfort. Many injured workers receive a combination of therapeutic aquatics with either land-based therapeutic exercise/conditioning/mobility training or work hardening. Staff now also includes three Certified Hand Therapists who can treat acute hand injuries/post-op patients, administer therapeutic exercises, fabricate splints, and make recommendations for additional adaptive equipment. All treatment staff are experienced in the treatment of work-related injuries, and participate in annual professional development and continuing education seminars.

The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.

The Veterans Transitional Supportive Program (VTSP) is a collaborative effort by the Rhode Island Veterans Home and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to assist homeless veterans in their return to community living. The objectives of treatment are to have each veteran achieve an optimal level of functioning mentally, physically, vocationally and socially so when community housing is located they will not experience homelessness again. Residents typically can remain in the program from six months to a year where they are assisted with substance abuse treatment, work therapy, case management services, individual counseling, medical and psychiatric treatment and discharge planning. Each veteran is expected to develop an individualized treatment plan and work with his/her case manager to resolve those issues which contributed to his homelessness.
