Licensed by the RI Department of Education as a year round out-of-district special education school for grades K-12. Students may enroll as day students or, if they meet special education criteria, may be enrolled through the St. Mary’s residential program. The summer program component prevents students from regressing in social, emotional and academic progress by actively engaging students in credit recovery and supportive learning programs. If evaluations to assist with meeting special education requirements or determining if out-of-district placement are necessary, the Camous School offers a 45-day assessment program as well. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) are RI initiatives for the development of positive and predictable expectations needed to succeed in school and in life.

Some of these organizations may supply a very specialized type of I&R service (e.g., for people with disabilities or older adults), while others may provide a comprehensive range of assistance. The coordination of all I&R services and programs within a community and, where relevant, beyond, constitutes the 211 system.
