However, because it is staffed by volunteers, anyone needing assistance is asked to call the Social Services department to schedule a time to pick up food. Appointments are made for Wednesday mornings beginning at 9 am or Wednesday afternoons. Emergency situations will open the food bank as needed. A Batterers Intervention Program is a psycho-educational group led by trained professional facilitators. Each meeting is an hour and a half to two hours long, and meetings are held every week for a minimum of 20 weeks. Fees are collected, but programs can make accommodations as needed. Ask your parole officer or program staff about available options. Participants are held accountable for their attendance, must be on time, and cannot miss a meeting. At CCAP, their goal is to reduce the cost for low-income households, elderly, families and people with disabilities by improving the energy of their homes while assuring their health and safety. The United States Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) was created in 1976 to assist low-income families. WAP is operated in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and in Native American tribes. Funds are used to improve the energy efficiency of low-income homes using the most advanced technologies and testing protocols available in the housing industry. The energy conservation resulting from the efforts of state and local agencies helps our country reduce its dependency on foreign oil and decreases the cost of energy for families in need while improving the health and safety of their homes.
