Hospice Care, also referred to as palliative care, aims to improve quality of life and the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs for families of residents living with a serious illness. Scalabrini Villa collaborates with many different Hospice agencies to provide a variety of choices. Provides specialized palliative care and end of life services affording comfort and support to residents who are no longer seeking active treatment and have a life expectancy of months or weeks. The focus of the Hospice team and the Villa staff is the physical and emotional support to both the resident and their family members. Members of your hospice team at Scalabrini Villa may include physicians, a hospice doctor or medical director, skilled nurses, home health aides, social workers, mental health providers, trained volunteers, clergy and with special authorization could include: physical, occupational and speech therapists.

A private, nonsectarian, not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization that supports individuals in their recovery from mental illness and co-occurring disorders (i.e., substance use, developmental disability, related chronic health conditions). Provides access to support and resources for individuals to lead self-determined, independent, and fulfilling lives as contributing members of the community. Assists people of all ages to improve their behavioral health, well-being, and quality of life. Licensed professionals conduct individual assessments and develop person-centered treatment plans. Individuals are seen by a psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse practitioner for medication management, and individual and group therapy are available. The Kent Center Provides: behavioral health services ranging from emergency services, general and intensive community-based outpatient treatment, substance use treatment, and other services. If receiving services as a child, assistance with transition to adult services or programs are provided within or outside the agency. The monthly diabetes support group sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Services Home and Hospice is held at the Edward King Senior Center, 35 King St., Newport RI. The meeting is open to the public, and no appointment or referral is needed. Diabetes Support Groups are open to all those living with diabetes. The group is provided free of charge by Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice. Each meeting is facilitated by a certified diabetes educator. No registration or doctor’s referral is required. Founded in 1971, CODAC Behavioral Healthcare is Rhode Island’s oldest and largest non-profit, outpatient provider of treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). With seven community-based locations, as well as programming at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RI DOC), CODAC is well-positioned to deliver services wherever they are needed across the state. CODAC offers psychiatric and mental health services at all of their locations. After an initial intake screening you may be referred to an on-site psychiatric practitioner for further evaluation and treatment. Individualized treatment and recovery plans might include medication management supervised by the psychiatric practitioner and ongoing co-occurring counseling with clinical staff. It is not unusual to have both mental health disorders and a substance use disorder. Because the two conditions are so closely linked, CODAC has responded to offer you effective treatment and recovery programs to address both disorders concurrently.
