Generations is a day facility providing services to meet the needs of adults with disabilities and the elderly. The Mission of Generations is to provide an array of services/supports responsive to the needs of participants and the personalized goals and objectives within their individual Plans. The focus is to inspire and support each person to make individual choices to increase their independence, build their self-esteem, maintain good health, learn new skills and to live a meaningful and productive life. The Cumberland Senior Center is committed to providing an array of quality services to our senior citizens. We encourage and assist individuals in achieving a lifestyle so they can continue to be active and productive members of the community. Membership fees: for $8 per year, you can join the Cumberland Senior Center and enjoy companionship, trips around the state, a game of billiards, and BINGO Fridays. For non-residents, the annual membership fee is $12. Programs on a variety of educational, informational, and recreational topics for senior citizens are offered throughout the year. The senior van is available for many uses, including center pickup and drop offs and local shopping and appointments. Advanced reservations are required and are made by calling 401-334-2555 ext 104. Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a national, evidence-based family visiting program that provides free and voluntary support to families. It builds strong communities, thriving families and children that are healthy, safe and ready to learn by matching parents and caregivers with trained professionals who make regular personal home visits during a child’s earliest years in life, from prenatal through kindergarten. PAT serves expectant mothers and families. This program provides informational support and encouragement to parents to help their children develop optimally during the early years of life. The program features parent educators that are dedicated to forming lasting relationships with families. Services include: -Personal home visits that build rapport and include activities that promote child and family interactions. -Facilitated discussions that enhance parental understanding of child development and promote the family’s well-being. -Links to community resources that assist families reach personal goals. -Group connections that offer opportunities to link families with natural support networks in the community. Group gatherings are interactive and may include a family activity, presentation, or socialization opportunity with other families.

Peer support in a non-structured environment where mental health consumers can stop by to relax, socialize and help develop whatever services and programs they want.
