Food Pantry

Hands On Disaster Response (HODR) is a US-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that provides hands-on assistance to survivors of natural disasters around the world. Supports volunteers with housing, meals, tools, and organized work at no charge in order to provide free and effective response services to communities in need. Programs are directed by the needs of each community in which they work, ensuring a timely, relevant, and culturally sensitive response.

The Warwick Center for the Art’s core commitment is to serve as a center dedicated to uniting the community through the arts. They will connect all ages and abilities to a variety of arts activities through exhibits, educational programs and cultural experiences. Emerging and established artists will find a unique and inviting space in which to share their creative vision with the community.

Glenark Landing Apartments is 89 apartments of affordable units, that is, geared to people earning no more than 60 percent of area median income. There are one, two, and three bedroom apartments to accommodate different family sizes; a laundry room; and a Community Room and Kitchen that all residents can enjoy.

Animal shelter

The Ocean Tides School Providence Campus is an alternative day school for students in grades seven through twelve. Offering a full high school Rhode Island Regents diploma, the school is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Additionally, the Providence Campus offers a certified special education program and a career/technical education program. The student body at the Providence Campus is comprised of students referred by their school district for educational purposes (both regular and special education) and career/technical training. Each candidate is screened by the Director of Special Education and the Principal before admittance to ensure the student is ready and willing to enter the program. Given the severe educational difficulties these students have experienced in the past, Ocean Tides seeks to provide creative, individualized programs that meet the needs of all students. Weekly formal individual counseling sessions, regular family sessions, and easy availability to support the day to day concerns of a young man are part of the work of each residential counselor. Briarcliffe Manor is a five star rated, privately owned 122 bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center located on 30+ lush, wooded acres in Johnston, RI. An award winning facility is conveniently located- just 15 minutes west of Providence and just minutes from area hospitals. Nursing Facility and Assisted Living Provides Memory Care/ Dementia and/or Alzheimer Number of Beds: 43 Briarcliffe Manor is a preferred provider for Lifespan, Coastal Medical, CharterCARE Health Partners and CharterCARE Provider Group RI, LLC. We are members of the Rhode Island Healthcare Association and the Visionary Heathcare Network, a group of local, privately owned nursing homes.

Johnston Emergency Management Agency implements policies related to hazard mitigation and emergency management programs and activities. The EMA also has general supervision of all civil preparedness duties.

Offers open-ended groups for children ages 3-19 and their families after the death of a loved one. The groups meet on alternating weekdays. There is no fee charged for participation in our programs.

THE SCITUATE ANIMAL SHELTER is a municipal facility under the supervision of Scituate Animal Control, a division of the Scituate, Rhode Island Police Department. They take in animals from Scituate and Foster and provide care until we can find good homes for them. They also socialize all cats and dogs who need such work in order to be ready for life in a home and with a family. The shelter staff and the volunteers will go to great lengths to find homes for all animals that we have at the shelter.

Southern RI Volunteers is providing free delivery for residents of South County (Block Island, Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Jamestown, North Kingstown, Richmond, South Kingstown, Wakefield, Westerly). Person must be disabled or a homebound senior. Person has to pay for the prescription beforehand.

Genoa Healthcare operates at the Hope Valley location. They provide patients with a convenient option for filling prescriptions where they receive their medical, behavioral health and dental care. Genoa Health care provides specialized pharmacy offerings to simplify the patient's medications, convenient medication mailing options and assistance with authorizations and insurance plans.

The Elms Apartments —a project based Section 8 and Tax Credit Development designed for the Families, Elderly (62 years of age and older) and/or person with disabilities under 62 years of age. The community consists of (120 apts.) 57 one bedroom, 51 two bedroom, and 12 three bedroom apartments and is smoke free.

Speech therapy team addresses problems related to speech, language and swallowing. These issues could include language and swallowing disorders; cognitive difficulties with thinking, problem-solving and remembering; and slurred speech.

Programs that publish and/or distribute information regarding the position of rival candidates in an election, voter guides that may summarize the pros and cons of specific ballot measures, sample ballots, precinct boundaries, the location and hours of polling places, and other details regarding the content or the mechanics of the election.

The Visitation Center serves families whose children are in the care of DCYF due to substance use or mental health concerns. Families are able to have supervised visits in a home-like setting while receiving support in their recovery. The program provides for: Supervised Visits - Visits in a home environment with a focus on everyday family activities. Clinical Oversight - consultation and assessment, observation and clinical work around visits, assistance with coordination of supports and help with parenting skill building. Family Recovery Coaching - support with the recovery process, information and resource connections and help navigating the child welfare system. Transportation - transportation for the children to visits, if needed.

Beavertail Lighthouse museum features a collection of information, artifacts, and conversation about the history and site of the third-oldest lighthouse in North America. Engages with lighthouse history and with interesting elements of Narragansett Bay’s maritime science, technology, art, and culture.

Provides a wide range of service and products aimed at allowing people to maintain their independence by staying in their homes longer. The Personal Emergency Response Systems are monitored 24/7 in the call center. In addition, they offer a medication reminder compliance unit and Telehealth Disease Management Platform.

Lawn School is a public school for students in grades 5-8. Jamestown School Department provides a rigorous, standards based curriculum with a balanced literacy program, real-world mathematics, hands-on science and civics education preparing students for 21st century learning. Jamestown schools have adopted computer science, coding and science, technology, engineering, arts & mathematics (S.T.E.A.M) based opportunities as key components of the curriculum. Currently both schools in the district have a fully furnished makerspace lab with 3-d printers, green screens and Edison robots.

Elementary School

The American SIDS Institute, a national nonprofit health care organization, is dedicated to the prevention of sudden infant death and the promotion of infant health through an aggressive, comprehensive nationwide program of: Research about both the cause of sudden infant death and methods of prevention. Education about prevention methods for the public and medical community. Family Support by providing answers to parents’ questions in a straightforward and sensitive manner.

The Volunteers in Schools program is an integral part of the Portsmouth School Department. Volunteers are recruited and trained to make major, system-wide contributions in the areas of tutoring, health screening, kindergarten registration, classroom assistance, enrichment, student publishing and print media reproduction.
