McAuley House is the meal site and house of hospitality of McAuley Ministries. They open their doors at 8am Monday through Friday and welcome guests to join them for a day of food, fellowship, program activities, and much needed social services in a safe and comforting atmosphere. Each day, they provide a self-serve breakfast; a nutritious and nourishing lunch with special ingredients from the Healing Foods Project menu; and a full take-away evening meal following our afternoon enrichment program. All guests are served with hospitality, compassion, and dignity in an atmosphere of love and respect. Breakfast is served from 8am to 9:30am; lunch from 11:15am to 1pm; and afternoon program activities are offered from 1:30—3:30pm. McAuley House serves up to 300 people each day.

Reach Out and Read Rhode Island national nonprofit organization since 1989 now reaching nearly 4.5 million low-income families each year, Reach Out and Read builds on the unique relationship between doctors and patients to spread the message that reading aloud is the most important thing parents can do to help their children love books and start school ready to learn. With more than 5,500 participating programs across the nation, 66 of those here in Rhode Island, Reach Out and Read teaches millions of families the importance of reading aloud.

Assisted Daily Living, Inc. provides clients with a wide array of services designed to ensure superior patient care in the familiar comfort of home, often providing a happier and more affordable alternative to nursing, or assisted living facilities. Services can be arranged for a few hours a week or around the clock. ADL begins by reviewing the specific needs of the client through discussions with family members, as well as the care recipient's doctor, social workers or therapists. A customized program of care is developed to manage the client's daily needs. ADL will match the clients needs to the best possible caregiver, based on both professional experience and on ability characteristics. Basic Health Monitoring: Skin - monitor for signs of breakdown, apply pressure reduction measures; Nutrition - monitor weight, nutritional intake, adhere to dietary restrictions; Vital Signs - take blood pressure, temperatures, pulses and respirations. Report abnormalities to physician; Intake / Output - encourage adequate fluids, monitor fluid intake and urine output; Lab Monitoring - perform prescribed blood work and report results to physician; Diet - prepare special prescribed diets, encourage compliance with restrictions; Glucose Monitoring - check blood glucose per orders, report results to physician; Insulin - teach administration of insulin per prescribed regime, follow-up and report compliance to physician. Diabetes: New Diabetic - teach special skin care, insulin injection technique, blood glucose monitoring, hypo/hyperglycemia and related emergency protocol. Medication Management: When capable - remind to take medications and follow-up; When Forgetful - give oral medications prepared by responsible party and follow-up; Supplies - manage supply of prescriptions to have all meds on-hand; Teaching - instruct new medications or monitor changes in regime per plan of care, assess response, side effects and adverse reactions. Catheters (Foley Indwelling and External): New Catheter - teach drainage bag changes and cleaning, securing tubing, trouble shooting dislodged catheters placement, blockages, drainage amounts; Ostomies - Colostomy, Urostomy Changes - insert catheter per authorized plan of care and as needed; New Ostomy - teach ostomy care, preventive skin care, troubleshooting; Care - assist with ostomy changes, monitoring peri-stomal skin. Wound Care: Wound / Bedsore - assess wound, incision or bedsore healing, signs and symptoms of infection and evaluate response to treatment; Teach Care - instruct wound or bedsore regime, evaluate technique, compliance; Treatment - perform wound / bedsore care per prescribed regime, report signs and symptoms infection and progress to physician. Private Duty Nurses: Available to care for patient's in Hospital's & Nursing Homes. Home Assessment: evaluate home safety needs, arrange for adaptive equipment. Therapy: assess, plan, perform and evaluate physical therapy to regain strength and maximal activities of daily living plan. Teaching: instruct prescribe exercise regime and safe ambulation with/without assistive devices. Assistance: help perform prescribed exercises, report progress to physician. Services: Private Duty, Nursing Assistant's available for patients in the Hospitals or Nursing Homes.

The Picillo Center is a community center where older individuals can participate in community-based outings, physical fitness exercises, art therapy and horticulture activities throughout the day. The gardening project, initially started in 2009, has transformed into a genuine Horticulture program and business. Since its inception, this small garden has grown into a larger fenced garden, incorporating raised flowerbeds allowing for ease with plant care. With interest and ability improving, employees of the program successfully sponsored a number of fundraising events for the purpose of purchasing a greenhouse. With this in place, gardeners are able to begin their harvest earlier by starting with the seedlings. While both of these projects are enjoyable and healing, they also serve as an employment opportunity with produce and flowers being sold to individuals, local vendors and at farm fresh fairs.

Acute Stabilization Unit The ASU, as we call it, provides short term, residential services for the person who is having a mental health and/or substance abuse emergency, but who does not need hospitalization. Referrals are made through our Emergency Services Team, hospitals and other sources. Intensive Outpatient Program Successful independence is the goal of our recovery-focused Intensive Outpatient Program for those with co-occurring disorders. You’ll get care and guidance from our skilled counselors in a safe, supportive setting. Opioid Treatment Center of Excellence We believe that treatment works. Meet with a Peer Specialist who will walk you through the steps to getting help with opioid addiction. Outpatient Counseling Services Counseling is provided in an office-setting for addictions, including problem gambling. DUI Court Ordered Treatment is also available through our Outpatient Counseling program. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Our new Rise to Recovery PHP program helps individuals and family members recover from the negative consequences and life issues associated with substance use and addiction. Residential Substance Use Treatment Treatment and around-the-clock support provides men with the opportunity to focus on their recovery from chemical dependency. Our supportive services can become a part of your safety net after discharge as well. Recovery Housing Sober housing and support services are available who have recently completed a residential treatment program to help them along the road to recovery. Girl Scouting helps cultivate values, social conscience and self-esteem in girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. In Girl Scouting, and its special girl only environment, girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. The program is delivered through troops comprised of five age levels: Daisy, 5 - 6 years old; Brownie, 6 - 8 years; Junior, 8 - 11 years old; Cadette, 11 - 14 years old and Senior, 14 - 17 years old. Individual memberships are available for girls who cannot attend regular troop meetings. A summer camp program is conducted at six camps throughout the council's area. Bilingual Hispanic staff. Troop Leader/Co-Leader: Work with a group of girls and mentor them as they make new friends and develop connections that will last a lifetime. Troop Family and Friends: Assist with driving, activity planning, snacks, money management, or other tasks necessary to keep the troop running oh-so-smoothly from week to week. Cookie Volunteers: Coordinate the annual cookie sale at the troop level. Set up cookie booths, manage inventory and money, and then watch the girls light up when they earn the rewards for being the best cookie sellers ever! Service Unit Volunteers: Mentor adult volunteers as they work with Girl Scouts to create memories they will never forget. A state-of-the-art skilled nursing and sub-acute rehabilitation center, Pine Grove Health Center has been an important part of the path from hospital to home for thousands of people looking to recover or rehabilitate as quickly and comfortably as possible from accident or illness. The interdisciplinary care team also helps manage chronic, long term conditions like respiratory illness or multiple sclerosis, in a setting that mirrors the comforts of home. MLK Jr. Community Center is a nonprofit service provider for at-risk individuals, families and seniors. Hunger Services On Site Food Pantry - providing non-perishable food, frozen meat, fresh produce, bread and household and personal care items to our Newport County residents. All clients are eligible to shop once per month. Mobile Food Pantry - visits neighborhoods across Newport County each month on a rotating schedule.
