McAuley House is the meal site and house of hospitality of McAuley Ministries. They open their doors at 8am Monday through Friday and welcome guests to join them for a day of food, fellowship, program activities, and much needed social services in a safe and comforting atmosphere. Each day, they provide a self-serve breakfast; a nutritious and nourishing lunch with special ingredients from the Healing Foods Project menu; and a full take-away evening meal following our afternoon enrichment program. All guests are served with hospitality, compassion, and dignity in an atmosphere of love and respect. Breakfast is served from 8am to 9:30am; lunch from 11:15am to 1pm; and afternoon program activities are offered from 1:30—3:30pm. McAuley House serves up to 300 people each day.

Since 2010, they have served more than 10,000 patients, 80% of whom are Spanish-speaking, through the clinic and health education programs. Free healthcare is provided by a team of multi-lingual volunteers and core staff. They believe healthcare is a human right.

EBCAP’s Community Programs are designed to help people to reach their full potential. It is their goal to create the bridge to self-reliance. Their programs improve lives through education, skills training, and clinical care when needed. A program like Baby Steps is a great place for parents to learn how their child develops. Their Home Energy Assistance Program helps those who can’t afford to heat their homes. Through the Congregate Nutrition Program, seniors received a healthy warm meal through their local Senior Centers. Head Start Programs teach the importance of a child’s healthy development so they can grow and thrive! The AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent Program offers a way for individuals 55 and older to stay active by serving children and youth in communities while providing a unique service built on the natural bond between generations. Their AmeriCorps East Bay Retired and Senior Volunteer Program places individuals 55 and older volunteering in many programs and nonprofits in the East Bay area. Their Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA) provides fee tax preparation for income eligible individuals. Education and Career Pathways helps with educational goals, job readiness skills and improved career options. Their food pantries offer twice monthly food distribution. Senior Services provides options and resources to help income eligible seniors remain in the community. Satellite location of EBCAP. Food Pantry Victims of Crime Act- Advocacy for Crime Victims Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Feeding and Nutrition Program provides food vouchers, allowing them to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, juice and iron fortified cereals and formula. The WIC coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to all program participants on a monthly basis.

Blackstone Valley Community health Care (BVCHC) has established a program that reduces fees charged to patients based on their income and family size. The categories used are based on percentages of “Poverty Level” as annually determined by the federal government. Qualifying patients will pay a nominal fee if they qualify for 100% of poverty. Patients between 101% and 200% will pay an amount depending on their family size and percentage of poverty. Every program has requirements and BVCHC’s Sliding Fee Program is no different.

Villa Excelsior Apartments have Section 8 contract rents – you must go to the office to fill out these applications in order to get on the wait lists. But we have a few apartments that are Low Income Housing Tax Credit Apartments with no rental subsidy. These units (1 & 2 br) are on West Ave in Pawtucket and (2br & 3br) are on Gilmore & Bridgham Streets in Providence. There are no other locations. They have fenced yards and 24 hour emergency maintenance services. No pets allowed. Rents start at $590 with no utilities included. You must have a minimum income of $1,900 per month in order to apply.

MLK Jr. Community Center is a nonprofit service provider for at-risk individuals, families and seniors. Hunger Services On Site Food Pantry - providing non-perishable food, frozen meat, fresh produce, bread and household and personal care items to our Newport County residents. All clients are eligible to shop once per month. Mobile Food Pantry - visits neighborhoods across Newport County each month on a rotating schedule. Breakfast Program - Mon-Fri 7:30 - 9:00. Serve a hot breakfast to eat in or take out. Enter through the Edward Street Entrance. Lunch Program - Tues, Thurs and Fri 11:30 - 1:00. First come first served. Tues & Thurs they provide soups. Fri (except MLK Friends' Lunch Friday) is a take-away lunch. Enter through the Edward Street Entrance. Produce to the People - year round program offering free fresh produce to Newport Co. residents, Thurs 10-1. First come, first served. Enter through the Edward Street entrance. June - September also at: Oxbow Farms, Tues 11-1, 80 Rogers Lane in Middletown and at Chapel Terrace, Fri 11 -1, 19 Chapel Street in Newport. Holiday & Thanksgiving Food Program and Children's Holiday Gifts - register beginning late September. If you have children, you can also register for Santa's Workshop.
