Services: New England's largest community college with five campuses, two satellites and a training and technology center offers educational opportunities for all Rhode Island residents. Depending on the size and nature of the community, 211 systems may consist of only a few organizations that provide information and referral or may include a diverse array of organizations that furnish some type of I&R. Some of these organizations may supply a very specialized type of I&R service (e.g., for people with disabilities or older adults), while others may provide a comprehensive range of assistance. The coordination of all I&R services and programs within a community and, where relevant, beyond, constitutes the 211 system.

Federally funded and state administered through our Department, we are committed to providing low-income individuals and families with resources to purchase food.

The Rhode Island Veterans Home is a 110-acre complex on Mount Hope Bay in Bristol. The home provides quality nursing and residential care to Rhode Island war veterans. Some of the services provided include social, medical, nursing and rehabilitative services. Services Approximately 208 beds. Assisted living and nursing care, including secure units (Alzheimer's care) and palliative care. X-ray, dental, and pharmacy services, physical therapy and occupational therapy, psych services, transportation to PVAMC. Rehabilitation Services includes physical and occupational therapy. Social Services includes individual and group therapy and specialized support groups. Transitional Services include short-term stays in dorms or a more intensive Transitional Supportive Program for homeless veterans. Activities and Services for Residents include movies, crafts, card games, bingo, birthday parties, cookouts and day trips. Religious Services are also available. In addition to the Veterans Home buildings, the facilities include a library, gift shop, cafe, bank, barbershop, and beautician. The Veterans Home has an active Family Council that is open to family members. They meet monthly to discuss common issues and concerns affecting the residents of the home.

The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:

Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. UCPRI will assist families in identifying their needs (home health care, learning, recreation) and work with them to secure funding. Our Adult Basic Education program prepare students to pass the GED (and other high school equivalency programs) and proceed to college-level work and persist in their post-secondary education goals. Students receive developmental education courses in reading and math, as well as courses in writing and computer literacy, in order to first earn a high school equivalency diploma and then be prepared to enter college, a trade school, or a certificate program. The program also includes extensive academic and support services for students to help them reach their educational goals.
