MLK Jr. Community Center is a nonprofit service provider for at-risk individuals, families and seniors. Hunger Services On Site Food Pantry - providing non-perishable food, frozen meat, fresh produce, bread and household and personal care items to our Newport County residents. All clients are eligible to shop once per month. Mobile Food Pantry - visits neighborhoods across Newport County each month on a rotating schedule. Hospice Care, also referred to as palliative care, aims to improve quality of life and the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs for families of residents living with a serious illness. Scalabrini Villa collaborates with many different Hospice agencies to provide a variety of choices. Provides specialized palliative care and end of life services affording comfort and support to residents who are no longer seeking active treatment and have a life expectancy of months or weeks. The focus of the Hospice team and the Villa staff is the physical and emotional support to both the resident and their family members. Members of your hospice team at Scalabrini Villa may include physicians, a hospice doctor or medical director, skilled nurses, home health aides, social workers, mental health providers, trained volunteers, clergy and with special authorization could include: physical, occupational and speech therapists.

The purpose of the Rhode Island Organizing Project (RIOP) is to promote justice and the common good. RIOP trains leaders to be active in their communities around the issues that are important to them.

For adolescent girls, 13-17. Provides individual, group and family counseling in a long-term residential treatment program for women in recovery from chemical dependency. Daily living in a family atmosphere develops a sense of normalcy and belonging in a non-threatening, supportive, educative and chemically free environment. The program places a strong emphasis on the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Assertiveness training as well as physical and recreational activities are designed to improve health and appearance. Special emphasis is placed on helping each woman develop positive feelings of self-worth that will support the ultimate goal of sobriety. A relapse prevention specialist provides residential and outpatient relapse prevention services. Eastman House also offers a continuing after care program. Dexter Manor I, is a 10-story elderly/disabled high-rise building located on the edge of the city’s Downtown neighborhood. In 1984 a new wing was added to the building containing an additional 91 units of elderly/disabled housing and the PHA’s Administrative Offices. Although the newer wing is technically a separate development named Dexter Manor II, the two are usually referred to collectively as Dexter Manor.

Tides is a non-traditional agency, unlike any other. Their “No-walls” philosophy puts them in the heart of neighborhoods where clients live—the most distressed and poverty-stricken areas of Rhode Island. Community-based programs service these youth, aged 6-21, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. RIRAL’s free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESL/ESOL) offer students from foreign countries an opportunity to learn English. Classes are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. ESOL classes prepare students to live, work and study in the United States. As ESOL students advance, they may transition into our adult basic and adult secondary education classes, college transition program, or a job training program.

There are going to be three main types of places where people will be able to get vaccinated: The first type of place is a state-run vaccination site. The second location where vaccine will be available will be retail pharmacies. The third type of place where people will be able to get vaccinated is local and regional vaccination sites. These will include community clinics run by cities and towns. It will also include vaccination happening through some hospital and healthcare systems, community health centers, and other sites in the community. Registration for these sites will be determined by municipalities.

Home care provides health services conducted in the privacy of an individual’s home. This includes skilled nursing, social services, and physical, speech, and occupational therapy. Grand Islander Center is located on Aquidneck Island. They provide Alzheimer's/dementia care in a secure Homestead Unit; LongTerm, Palliative, Restorative and Pain Management Care; and intensive nursing and rehabilitative care for patients recovering from surgery or illness in their Transitional Care Unit.
