Superior Court is comprised of twenty-two (22) judges and five (5) magistrates. It is the forum for jury and non-jury trials of both civil and criminal matters.

The UCP Rhode Island Children & Family Services program provides services to children with disabilities and their families under Rhode Island�s Home Based Therapeutic Services Program (HBTS). Medicaid eligible children (up to age 21) are provided comprehensive periodic evaluations to supplement the treatment of various medical conditions. Works with families to develop service plans for their children and assists the families to secure HBTS funding. Once a plan is approved, UCPRI provides case management and services, therapies, and training for the child and family. The object is to apply individualized services that permit the child to live at home and take an active part in school and community. UCPRI�s services may help relieve some of the financial strains that make raising a child with disabilities so stressful to both the family and child. Other Children & Family Services:

• CAP (Community Activities Project) provides financial support enabling children with disabilities to participate in community and recreational activities.

Provides information, referral and advocacy to families with children who have special needs. UCPRI will assist families in identifying their needs (home health care, learning, recreation) and work with them to secure funding. Adult Education: UCP Rhode Island�s Adult Education Community Classrooms meet throughout RI. Instruction is individualized, based on the personal learning goals of each student. Most classes meet for 3 hours a week for 12 weeks. Burrillville Animal Control Shelter returns stray animals to their owners, places unclaimed animals in homes, enforces local animal control ordinances and state animal care regulations, educates and provides referrals to the public, and assists residents in advertising pets needing new homes via the internet.

The substance abuse task force identifies and addressed the issue of substance abuse in the city and its mission is to develop, implement, and advocate for effective community-based prevention initiatives

Assisted Living: Our trained caregivers assist with medication management, daily living activities, engaging activities, and coordination with outside healthcare providers.

Program provides low-interest loans to income eligible homeowners to assist them in making needed improvements to their homes. The program is available for single to three family owner occupied dwellings. Typical improvements include roofs, vinyl siding, windows, doors and gutters.

Family financial support may cover household expenses such as rent, mortgage, utility payments, medical bills, parking passes and other essentials. The Tomorrow Fund provides daily monetary stipends (allowances) for all children who are admitted to Hasbro Children's Hospital overnight as well as travel stipends (allowances) for patients traveling out of state for bone marrow transplant or medical treatment not available in Rhode Island. Families of children with cancer often incur enormous financial burdens. The loss of income, the costs of meals, babysitting and transportation to the hospital often break family budgets while their child is facing a life threatening illness. The Tomorrowfund anticipates the needs of our families, providing the resources and programs that bring a degree of normalcy to life in the midst of a battle for life itself.

Elder Case Management provides assessment, monitoring, and protective services for seniors. Case managers oversee the development and implementation of client-specific care plans. They can help clients maintain independence through home and community services. These services are state-subsidized through the RI Division of Elderly Affairs’ Home and Community Care Programs.

Common Sense Parenting (CSP) is a practical, skill-based program that provides easy-to-learn techniques to help with today's parenting challenges. CSP offers training for parents who want to build on their existing skills to learn new ways of dealing with their children's behaviors. CSP classes are two-hour sessions once a week over multiple weeks, based on the age of the child.

The meetings are drop-in groups and offers support to abused women. Confidentiality is stressed and women may come once or often. The focus is on better understanding of the abuse problem, be it emotional, physical or sexual, current or past. The goal is empowerment of the individual.

Assisted Daily Living, Inc. provides clients with a wide array of services designed to ensure superior patient care in the familiar comfort of home, often providing a happier and more affordable alternative to nursing, or assisted living facilities. Services can be arranged for a few hours a week or around the clock. ADL begins by reviewing the specific needs of the client through discussions with family members, as well as the care recipient's doctor, social workers or therapists. A customized program of care is developed to manage the client's daily needs. ADL will match the clients needs to the best possible caregiver, based on both professional experience and on ability characteristics. THERAPIST'S - PT, OT, ST: Therapists including physical therapists, occupational and speech therapists assist in the rehabilitation of those with physical injuries or disease. Restoration of mobility, strength, dexterity, balance and communication skills is often the purpose for therapy. Helping individuals who are disabled by physical injuries or disease to regain maximum function with activities of daily living is always a main priority.

OSCIL’s knowledgeable staff can assist consumer’s in setting goals for self-sufficiency in the home. Centers for Independent Living teach a wide range of skills needed to live independently and manage life with a disability. Skills training is available to persons with disabilities in almost any topic where there is a need for more independence. CILs work with individuals to increase their skills which can help them gain more control of their lives. Skills training can include basic everyday responsibilities such as: self-care, meal preparation, budgeting, and arranging transportation. It also can address housing needs, teaching individuals the importance of self-advocacy, one’s need for accommodations and/or rights in the community. ***Life skills training is goal directed and does not involve long-term case management or therapeutic intervention. As part of OSCIL’s mission to provide outreach, education and opportunities for peer support, OSCIL offers Lunch and Learn workshops highlighting various solutions that can increase access in your home and community.
