The Ashaway Volunteer Fire Association is an all volunteer department that operates out of one station and protects the Village of Ashaway, with fire and rescue services. The Ashaway Fire district encompasses 22 square miles with a population of around 5000. Interstate Rt 95 runs through the district for about 4 miles and most of the town boundries are rivers.

Donovan Manor (Part of Newport Housing Authority) also provides information on all nine Newport Housing Authority units, which include elderly, disabled, and family housing.
