Founded in 1971, CODAC Behavioral Healthcare is Rhode Island’s oldest and largest non-profit, outpatient provider of treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). With seven community-based locations, as well as programming at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RI DOC), CODAC is well-positioned to deliver services wherever they are needed across the state. CODAC offers psychiatric and mental health services at all of their locations. After an initial intake screening you may be referred to an on-site psychiatric practitioner for further evaluation and treatment. Individualized treatment and recovery plans might include medication management supervised by the psychiatric practitioner and ongoing co-occurring counseling with clinical staff. It is not unusual to have both mental health disorders and a substance use disorder. Because the two conditions are so closely linked, CODAC has responded to offer you effective treatment and recovery programs to address both disorders concurrently.

College Visions is a FREE program that provides low-income and first-generation students with one-on-one advising and resources to get in, succeed,and graduate from college. Beginning the summer before senior year of high school, students are assigned aCV advisor and work on college essays, resumes, scholarships, the financial aid process, and more. CV students participate in weekly meetings with their advisor, attendcollege visits, receive SAT fee waivers,and engage in workshops focused on the college process. Once admitted into college, our students receive support throughout their college career until they graduate

Pawtuxet Valley Urgent Care is a medical practice providing prompt treatment of all non-life-threatening acute injuries and illnesses for patients of all ages on a walk-in basis. A 70 bed comprehensive inpatient/outpatient medical rehabilitation program, transitional care unit, neuro behavioral unit for stroke and brain injury patients, transitional living apartments, staff of specialized medical rehabilitation therapists and nursing professionals. Stroke Specialty The Stroke Specialty Rehabilitation Program, a CARF recognized program, provides adults needing therapy to improve their function and quality of life. Our patients have been diagnosed with cerebral vascular accidents (CVA), intracranial hemorrhages, and thrombo/embolic strokes. Neurorehabilitation This program treats patients with diagnoses such as brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program provides monthly payments to adults and children with a disability or blindness who have income and resources below specific financial limits. Community Care Alliance strives to empower people experiencing economic insecurity, mental illness and addiction, housing issues, and trauma-related concerns. They provide clinical and support services for individuals and families with long-term needs associated with mental illness and substance abuse. Their goal is to help people live as independently and as fully integrated within the community as possible These might include basic needs assistance to address emergencies— counseling, treatment, support services and residential programs for individuals and families impacted by serious mental illness and addiction— emergency and supportive housing to prevent homelessness and promote stabilization— alternative education and services for families with young children and adolescents— and employment, financial literacy and vocational training to improve self-sufficiency.

Canonchet Cliffs III is subsidized housing for families. It offers one, two, three, and four bedroom apartment homes for rent.

Using donated labor, supplies, and building materials, we perform critical and strategic home repairs free of charge to those who can not afford the expense and are physically unable to do the work. We focus on safety and emergency repairs, home modifications for aging-in-place, veteran’s projects, and energy efficiency. We encourage homeowners and their families to work alongside us so that everyone shares an investment in community pride, safety, and well being.

Richmond Animal Control Division handles approximately 75 calls-for-service per month, which often vary from noise complaints to animal "at large" violations, to animal bite complaints, and several other enforcement related duties. Complaints and calls concerning domesticated animals are received at Richmond Police Department, which serves as dispatch for Animal Control. Non-emergency calls received after-hours are referred to the next Animal Control Officer to return to duty. The Animal Control Division also provides temporary shelter, feeding, care and medical treatment for impounded animals, and routinely facilitated adoptions to place abandoned, neglected, or unwanted animals in the care of willing and capable pet owners who are eager to provide the pet a safe and nurturing home environment.

Provides free, voluntary, confidential home visits to pregnant women and families with young children, birth to age three. Trained nurses, social workers, and community health workers meet with families in their homes to talk about their needs, answer questions they may have, and conduct comprehensive assessments. Home visits are based on the needs of the family. Visit topics may include health education and connections with appropriate healthcare services, human services, and community resources. If a child does not have a medical home, we can help the family find one.

Dorcas International provides client-centered services, advocacy and opportunities in family literacy and adult education, employment services, refugee resettlement, translation, interpretation, U.S. citizenship and immigration services. It operates out of two campuses providing services to the community including Immigration and Citizenship services, Refugee Resettlement, the Clothing Collaborative, English as a Second Language programs, and Interpreting and Translating services.

All residents and visitors should be protected by smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Free smoke detectors available (and carbon monoxide detectors when available) to low income and handicapped residents of one, two and three-family houses in Providence. Smoke and carbon monoxide detector inspections are required for all new houses and on any homes that are being sold.
